Pickford 6........messed up but brilliant reflex save on the follow up
Coleman 5.......They worked on him and got behind him. Passing/crossing still poor
Keane 5....Just to slow for my liking. Looked decent from our set plays
Holgate 7 Looked assured
Baines 6 Decent game
Gana 8 Thought he was immense when we felt the pressure
Davies 7 Did better than he usually does
Siggy 8 Scheming and trying to get things going
Walcott 7 still looks rusty but need his pace. Took his goal well and was dangerous
Richarlison 7 Another goal and looks dangerous. In and out the game at the moment
Tosun 7 Worked hard played some good footy but not yet getting too many chances

I'm not sure our attack was THAT bad. Walcott should've scored a sitter and with all the free kicks they were giving up, we should've maybe done a bit better, but we were probably fortunate not to score a few more.

Agreed. Don't let the other teams know how good we are.

Second half was Everton last season. That's ok.
Marco knows he is along way from the finished article and fans need to remember this is a work in progress.
Stop thinking we are world beaters already.Far from it.
It is better than last year, but there will still be some bad days ahead.
We just have to keep the faith when the bad days come around.

We just beat Southampton. We couldn't do that last season.

I’m going to take positive that we could grind that out in the end. Many were worried that we would struggle to do this under Silva.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that, 70th 80th minute I could understand (frustration gets to them etc etc) but that was a game plan from Hughes to disrupt our movement and fluidity, right from the off.

We have a huge difference on "very good" it looks like. The most I would say is mediocre on defense, terrible on attack, especially Schneiderlin with his lack of distribution and pacing forward supporting attack.

Schneiderlin with an assist in his 20 minutes on the pitch and Gueye absolutely everywhere to secure the win.

The teams we’ve played won’t be troubling the European places but we’ve drawn a game (with chances to win) that the ref desperately tried to take away from us and beat a team that tried to kick lumps out of us. Football hasn’t been scintillating but the results are what they are.

Most, if not all agree that we’ll get better as the signings come in and we learn the ways of Silvaball, so it could be argued the future looks bright. Then again, a lot of us probably said similar things at this stage under Martinez/Koeman, so...
