McNeil has to start over gray if Patterson is playing. Gray can’t be trusted to help Patterson and they will double up on Patterson with Robertson and Diaz.
That reeks of sh1t house tactics that though.

Gray is so much more of a threat than McNeil, and given he's a winger that's what we need to look for,.not someone who puts a shift in defensively.

If gana plays over Tommy Davies, that's basically another defender anyway given how much work he does defensively.

Gray has had a good start to the season as well and looked a threat

Definitely need a three in midfield, we can not afford to be over run in midfield, Maupay to debut, Gana to be one of three. Garner to be on the bench and be brought on second half, looks a player this lad, admittedly only watched through YouTube videos, seems to have a bit of everything, likes a tackle, pretty quick and gets around the park, perfect derby player. Also takes decent corners and set pieces, was originally against this signing due to the progress of young Warrington, but maybe the right idea for him to go on loan, but would have preferred a first division club, or higher level. We have definitely strengthened the team, made it younger and more dynamic, Richarlison was a loss, but probably had to be done to balance the books. Don't think we have enough up front at the moment, but maybe we will go back in for Kudus, attacking mid and a classy striker/ wide player.

Think Gray could play through the middle, his pace could keep them occupied.

I'd go 442 with Maupay and Gray up top. We could win this.

Gana and Onana in front of the back 4 with Iwobi further forward could work. Don't think we'll see the best from McNeil until we have a decent target man playing - think he'd provide more crosses than direct threat himself so seeing him as a Richy replacement he's always gonna suffer. With Maupay / Dominic Calvert-Lewin to aim for I reckon he could do a better job as a provider than Gray could.

I feel I need to point out here that Maupay is about 5'7
