I think you all mean playing Schneids is like playing with 10 men.

He literally hides to ensure he can't receive the ball in midfield

just watching the southampton vs spurs game ... the advantage of having rapid attacking full backs is massive

IMO thats our biggest problem we have awkward slow none-attacking full backs .. makes us slow and predictable
The Kenny kid looks promising but he's just very rash. Needs to play in a cooler environment to develop his game. This Everton team looks able to compete with the top 6 if some changes are made (looking in as an Arsenal fan). I actually very much enjoyed watching Everton yesterday and feel more for them than I do for Arsenal (You can thank Wenger for that).

The biggest thing which needs changing for me in the Everton side is the midfield. The likes of Siggy and Rooney are good players but they're not 'system' players. Siggy does well in a team when he's got the other players forming the system and he can play his individual game (hence his good numbers). It seems that too many of your players are individual players and the team looks to have no set system (I.e. fluid movement of the ball and one twos for example). I don't know if its because of the atmosphere around the club or what. I get the feeling that the ability in the players are there but they're 'hiding'. Hear me out.

A similar thing was happening at Arsenal where all our players would push up the field whenever someone was on the ball and the result was we'd get turned over. I'm seeing a similar thing at Everton where none of them want the ball or want to bring it up field but they will all push up and wait for a cross or something to happen (i.e. they don't want to influence the play but they want to look like they're doing something).

Furthermore, you guys need a player to carry the ball through the midfield. A player that will help in attack and defence but will carry the ball. I'm not sure who can do it though but I'd give someone a go. Too many times I saw Schneiderlin get the ball when you had players advancing only to turn back and pass it to a CB. When he gets the ball, one of the other midfielders, ideally the other mid holding next to him should move into space ready to receive the ball and then siggy should move to receive the pass again. The midfield was too static and essentially was non existent. There needs to be intent in the team and a system. Get the players to start playing a pass and move as it's generally simple and its creates lots of chances and space for the team.

You don't need a star dribbler to dribble through the whole opp team, you just need your players to do the simple pass and moves right and it'll lead to chances. I'll be following Everton more now as I'm genuinely intrigued. I'm desperate for you guys to do well and overtake those c**** in red. Nothing worse than a Liverpool fan. If Arsenal can't win a trophy I'd rather see Everton win than any other team. Peace and respect guys keep it classy.

Also sliding in to tackles knowing he ain't getting there leaving himself on the deck watching the of the players try to recover the mess.Absolute shi£house. Done this action on several occasions proper shi£bag.

That's a good assessment. Other than our left back issue, central midfield is the worst. It just lacks everything you said and more. Barkley was our only player who was a good carrier and he's gone. Schneiderlin and Barry last season were the ones who could get on the ball and start play, Barry's now gone and Schneiderlin is a hollow shell of the palyer wi signed last Jan. The only player we've got who can use the ball well in midfield is probably Rooney, but then he has to be protected given his ageing legs and also has a tendency to either overplay it or be ill disciplined position-wise.

Yeah I was actually thinking Barkley would have been a good idea to play box to box but hes gone now. I'm not sure how your other players are as I haven't watched them. Could Klassen do a job there do you think?

Klassen has been shocking since he arrived. Don't want to write him off as it's always tough making the step up to better league, but I'd have to say no. He's a link-up player who is also about late runs into the box. Probably needs the kind of CMs we're lacking in order to play his game effectively.

Hmm if the talent is there then maybe he needs a bedding in period. Xhaka was class in Bundesliga but its take him time to get used to the pace of the premier league. Can he carry the ball ? If you put Gueye next to him and tell Gueye to sit and cover (i.e do all the leg work) and have Klassen carry the ball and try to spread play or link up could it work?

Is he more akin to Ramsey or Xhaka type? I apologise as I don't watch Everton nearly as much as most on here. Could a line up like below work? (Concentrating on the mid and attack)

------------------------Cenk------------------------
Siggy/Bolasie-----Rooney/Siggy--------------Walcott
---------------Klassen-------Gueye------------------

Maybe a bit more Ramsey. If anything our only player who can carry a ball in midfield now is Gueye, only problem is he is a terrible passer of the ball.

Personally, I think we she just go back to what we did when Allardyce first came in. A midfield trio of Gueye, Davies and Rooney. Sadly though it means we have to play Sigurdsson on the left. Possibly Davies and Gueye and holders with Sigurdsson just in front could be a shout but then Rooney has to be on the bench.

How is the trio defensively? With Rooney in there it seems like the midfield would be run past unless Davies is good defensively?

Whats happened to Schneiderlin btw? He was decent at S'ton but seems to have regressed. Motivation issues after leaving utd? If so I'd get rid ad get someone who wants to be at the club. Otherwise you could play him and Gueye as the two holding players with Gueye to carry the ball but also defend. Schneiderlin to keep things ticking over.

Also playing Rooney in the hole with Siggy on the left sound alright on paper. Arsenal would normally play an attacking midfielder on the left as it let the team retain possession more easily and helped with intricate play and one twos in and around the box. Though I get the feeling Sam doesn't play like that.
