I shudder to think what sort of manager 19th place Everton would be able to attract.

Pickford
Sidibe. Keane. Mina. Digne
Delph. Snides.
Sigs
Richerlson. Iwobi
DCL.

2-0 win to the hammers, goal by a set peice then they catch us on the counter late on when Marco has chucked all his attacking players on

Silva will need to turn this into a dog fight in midfield if he wants to keep his job, so I wouldn't be surprised if he had Davies in there ahead of Gomes.

It shouldn't ever be a case of expecting to lose at home to West Ham, but they have the pace and quality to punish Everton if there are gaps to be exploited.

the way we set up is as if we don't even have a midfield ..

we have 4 and 2 at the back … a 30 yard space and two wide with gylfi just behind dcl.

most other clubs have one or two 'midfielders' who aren't defined as 'defensive' or 'attacking ' (see ghendouzi at arsenal or james at united) and we can not match them.. this is why we are so open and easy to attack against, plus the fact sniderat is not any good at actual defending, nor is gomes really. that's was gana's dept but we all know what happened there

Couldn't agree more. I've long believed that 4-2-3-1 is really just 4-2-4, and I'm amazed that it's still in use.

I'd hoped that it would be consigned to the bin after Conte turned up and embarrassed the league in his first season, but then Chelsea had to go and send him back to Italy before anything took hold.

all of this

just put Iwobi in at center mid FFS. he can at least play back, defend, and most importantly, move the ball toward the other team's goal via build-up. I know this is a radical idea and all but we should try that

I'd like to see us try something like this:

Pickford

Coleman Keane Mina Digne

Iwobi Davies Gomes Bernard

Kean Richarlison

If Iwobi or Bernard aren't performing then put Tosun up front with Kean and move Richarlison back. We basically play 4-4-2 anyway with the 2 being Gylif and DCL, so that might as well be 4-4-0.
