Carlos men will find away and I love nothing more than breaking a teams heart that spend enormous energy all game trying to play for a nil nill and end up losing 1 nil. So I'll enjoy watching from that aspect JJ babe.
The good thing is it’s a half 5 kick off so I get to really enjoy my sat morn and afternoon

SOME OF THE ANCELOTTI PRE MATCH BURNLEY P/C

Olsen latest

Robin Olsen he had a problem physically; he started training this week. We have to check today if he’s good and available tomorrow.
The other thing is a private matter so I don’t want to go in there

Doucoure update

Abdoulaye Doucouré had a small fracture on his foot so he has to stay out. It could be 8 weeks, could be 10 weeks. I hope he’ll be back before the end of the season,

Better injury news

We have Tom Davies back, we have Coleman back, we have Mina back so I think we can manage.

Delph and James out

Mina is available, he trained this week properly without problem, so he will be available. Delph and James are not available.
We have to check Sigurdsson, he had a problem with his ankle from the last game

More on Rodriguez

Ancelotti says Rodriguez "played really well against Man United but he was not 100% fit. We decided to give him a proper recovery and don't let him play at 70 or 80%. We have taken this decision together. The player agrees. Ancelotti thinks James will be back after the international break

Carlo on Burnley

We didn't spend a lot of time together. I can say that I like the style of play of Burnley. Why? Because they play clear 4-4-2, I was born with 4-4-2! Burnley explain really well how you play 4-4-4-2. He's [Dyche] a good guy
They are not inventing new football, because football was already invented a long time ago! Managers that think to invent football, they are wrong

Carlo on Wilder

When I arrived last season, Sheffield United were above us and fighting for Europe. It was unbelievable for a team coming up. I think he has done a fantastic job, but today he will be in the club of sacked managers. I can say to Chris, enjoy your holiday

Carlo on VAR

I think VAR is working well. Of course some decisions are really difficult as they're not objective
With offside there is no problem. Sometimes you're disappointed because a goal is disallowed for 1cm offside but it's an objective decision...I think VAR is useful for football

Carlo on his 1st game verse Burnley last season

I have a good memory. We won with a fantastic goal of Dominic. The reception I had is one of the best moments of my career.
It was a difficult game & it will be tomorrow

Current Everton state

I think we are in the right way for what we want to achieve in the future

Signing midfielders in the summer

We are thinking about this, we have to look for the recovery of Gbamin. Unfortunately we haven’t seen him train in the last year and a half.
If Gbamin is okay, I think in midfield we have a good option

Football evolving

I think football's evolved and it's still evolving. I had the luck to train with Sacchi, who really did something special in Italy, where it was only defence.
He was able to bring a new philosophy of Italian football, with more attacking, intensity, training methodology

Creating chances for Calvert-Lewin

I don't think to change the style of our play, but we have to play more forward and press more high. I think that, for the next game,
we can press more forward and keep our defensive line higher

Carlo on Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin and King starting together

Yes it can be an option. Josh is ready to start, the shape would be 4-3-3 I think. I think Josh in a 4-4-2 can play as a winger on the right and the left as well

On Iwobi's preferred position

Really I didn't speak, I read the post that he did and I would like to know his preferred position! Usually, I want to put players on the pitch where they are comfortable to play. If he has an idea, I have to know, I want to know

I have to tell him to tell me, I am your manager, tell me where you prefer to play! If he wants to play No.10 or No.9, I can put him there no problem.
I can adapt the system

More From Carlo on James

This is his goal, to have more consistency. I think the start of the season was really good but then he started to travel, not just him but the season is really busy. But our goal is to give him the possibility to improve his condition and play with consistency

He had a problem on his calf, but in the game against Manchester United and against Liverpool he became tight and was not able to train at his best.
To avoid this, to give him the best situation, we prefer to keep him out for at least seven or 10 or 15 days

OLSEN

He had a problem, physically, and he started training this week. We have to check if he’s good and can be available for tomorrow. The other thing that happened is a private matter so I don’t want to go there.

IMPACT ON THE GROUP – CONCERNS? EXTRA SECURITY?

This is difficult to say. Everyone is really disappointed and sad for this and the club is working on this to keep the safety of the players at the top, of everyone who is working here at the best. The club is working on this.

DOUCOURE INJURY

Doucoure has a small fracture on his foot. He needs to stay out, I don’t know how long. Maybe eight weeks, maybe 10 weeks. I hope he can recover for the end of the season. We are not happy for this. Doucoure did really well, he is an important player for us, but we are not the only club that has to manage injuries. In this period there are a lot of injuries so we have to manage this. We were able to manage the absences of Allan, Lucas Digne. We hope we will be able to manage it. We have Tom Davies back, we have Coleman back, Mina back – I hope we can manage. I don’t know if it was an impact, he’s not available, he has to rest.

INJURIES?

Mina is available, he trained normally without problems. Not available Delph, James. Sigurdsson we have to check. He had a problem on his ankle in the last game. We have to check in the training. There are a lot of rumours around James, he played really well against Manchester United, Liverpool, but he was not 100 per cent fit. He had a little problem. After that, for the fact that we are going to have really important games to the end of the season, we decided to let him have a proper recovery and not let him play at 70, 80 per cent. He has to recover and when he is 100 per cent he is going to play again. We have taken this decision together. No problem with the player. He agreed. He wants to play, but he played against Liverpool and after 60 minutes I took him out. It’s better for him to solve his problem and be ready for the end of the season. That can be, I think, after the international break. It is not a big problem.

DYCHE?

We didn’t spend a lot of time together, but I can say that I like a lot the style of play of Burnley. Why? Because they clear 4-4-2. I was born in 4-4-2 as a player, as a system. Burnley explains really well how you have to play 4-4-2. He’s a good guy, I respect him for the style of play that I like a lot. They are not inventing a new football, but play a really good 4-4-2. Football was invented a long time ago, and I think that managers who think to reinvent football, are wrong.

Football is evolving. I had the look to train with Sacchi in Italy, where it was only defence and Sacchi was able to bring a new philosophy to Italian football with more pressing, intensity and different methods of training. It’s still changing. Now you can play from the goalkeeper where you couldn’t in the past. But to invent is really complicated.

WILDER?

When I arrived here, Sheffield United were above us, fighting for Europe, which was unbelievable for a team that came up from the second division. Today he might be the manager who is sacked. The club of that has a lot of members, in that sense. I say to Chris, enjoy your holiday!

SIDE EVOLVED SINCE FIRST GAME V BURNLEY?

The team improved, of course we are in a better position in the competition. Fighting for Europe. We have signed good players to improve the squad. We are in the right way for what we want to achieve in the future. Patience, intensity will be important. Focused on the game, concentration. We have to try and have a good control of the game, find solutions up front. In the last games we didn’t have a lot of opportunities and we want to be more creative.

MIDFIELD SIGNINGS?

We are thinking about this. We have to look at the recovery of Gbamin, that we unfortunately didn’t see him train in the last year and a half. This is an important target. If Gbamin is okay I think that in midfield we have good options.

CHANCES FOR DCL?

I don’t think to change the style of our play but we have to play forward more, press high. The last games we played were really difficult. We didn’t have a lot of chances, a lot of opportunities. I think in the next game we can play more forward, keep our defensive line higher and in this sense we can have more opportunities. If you are able to defend, press a bit higher you have the possibility to get the ball closer to the opponents’ goal. The quality in the final third has to be better. The midfielders have to be more focused on the final pass. That’s it.

KING, DCL, RICH TO START?

I think that it can be an option. Josh is ready to start the game. The shape would be 4-3-3. I think Josh in a 4-4-2 could play as a winger. At least on the right and also the left, no problem.

JAMES CONSISTENTLY FIT?

This is our goal, his goal, to have more consistent fitness. The start of the season was really good and then he started to travel [for international games]. The season is really busy and he wasn’t able to consistently play. Our goal is to give him the possibility to improve his condition. We have to consider that the last few years for him were not easy, he didn’t play a lot of games. If he is able to play consistently it will be good for our squad because of what he did. What he does in the games he plays is really fantastic. We are thinking that when he is at his optimum, he can be the difference. James will be available after the break for sure. He has a problem on his calf, from the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford and against Liverpool he became tired and was not able to train at his best. So to avoid this tightness, we prefer to keep him out for at leat 15 days to recover probably. When he’s ready to train with the team and play at his best, which he was not able to do against United or Liverpool. We don’t want him to play and risk a bigger injury.

IWOBI PREFERRED POSITION?

I didn’t speak to him, I read the post that he did. I want to speak [to him], I would like to know his preferred position because usually I want to put players on the pitch where they are comfortable to play, not where they are uncomfortable to play. If he has an idea of where he wants to play, I have to know, I want to know. I am delighted to know his preferred position, I’d put him in his preferred position, no doubt. I will tell him, he needs to tell me where he prefers to play. I am his manager. When I decided to play Pirlo as a holding midfielder, I asked him “do you like to play there, or not?”. He said “yes, I love to play there.” If Iwobi wants to play number 10 or nine, I will put him there no problem, I can adapt the system.

On the face of things right now team selection not looking to clever for Burnley.

Well, I think King needs to start.

If it's 4-3-3, then probably Davies, Gomes and Allan (assuming Gylfi not right, but think he'll be on the bench even if he needs checking today).

Maybe Carlo and Iwobi will have that chat and we'll play a 4-2-3-1.

Or maybe that was Carlo's polite way of saying I'm in charge, and you need to improve your performances.

Based on that presser, this is the updated team I'd go for:

Pickford

Coleman - Keane - Godfrey - Digne

Allan
Davies
--------- Gomes

--- King ------------ Richarlison
DCL
Sounds like we might struggle to fit the 4-1-2-1-2 'diamond' we've been playing if Sigurdsson isn't going to be fit enough to start. Think this is potentially the game where Ancelotti will try the DCL-Richarlison-King front three out.

Looks like Sigurdsson misses out. Carlo said he was injured in last game and he wasn’t in training the other day.
