+ They have 2 pretty astute centre backs and didn't really have many chances themselves

Be positive for once, we actually looked like a premier League team, we didn't at all last year

Disappointed but not fuming by any stretch of the imagination. Need at least one decent striker asap and hopefully we’ll be fine. Think the front 3 just looked clueless without a focal point. Defence was okay as was midfield. Onwards and upwards hopefully.

We'll play worse and win, we'll play better and lose.
Got a run out, blooded a few new faces, lost on a penalty (it was, though we wont get to many like it) and worked hard to go toe to toe with them. A couple of knocks and a serious injury, on top of our only good striker being out, we were always up against it. They subbed cucarella on (£62m) on for chilwell (£50m), lets not under exaggerate the scope of both squads.
We need to start thinking about when to cross and what positions we are focusing on getting into to concentrate play and try to work angles/overlaps. A style of play needs settling on and then an able backup striker that fits needs finding. It is unlikely we get 45 games out of DCL without injury or bookings...

I can only agree there. Any dedicated striker let alone a Brazil no 9 and we'd have got a point at least. Scandalous a team like Everton can't field one striker. Disgusting in fact mate.

Gordon and Gray need to make up their minds a lot sooner when on the ball. That split second of indecision is a defender’s dream. All over the park though was those same casual, technical mistakes. Iwobi and Tarkowski were solid. Pickford was all over the shop, good job Sterling was offside because that goal would have been his fault. Patterson looked tidy. Onana has a job on his hand trying to sort that midfield.

Oh and apparently other teams have these players called ‘strikers’!! Any idea we’re we can get one?
