QUALITY!!

We get to watch the UEFA cup game live! made up! well happy :D

We have to go for the jugular on this one, put the tie well out of contention straight off, WE MUST start with faddy, yes he struggles against PL defenders at times, but he will rip these guys to shreds, 4-3-3! lets hammer them!

Howard

Jagielka - Yobo - Lescott - Baines

Arteta - Carsley - Pienaar

AJ - Yakubu - Mcfadden

COYB!
I agree with Faddy having to start as I said in another thread he has more Euro experience than AJ. We need Neville in the side, so I'm affraid I would put Carsley on the bench.

does any1 else agree...

we are going to slaughter this team!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - but there is no way we will slaughter this team lads. Did anyone watch Shacktar last nite in the champions league? They were quality - pass the ball really well and counter attack at serious pace. Could have scored 5 at least. This team only finished 2 points behind them.

Just because we havent heard of them doesnt mean we will slaughter them!!!

That said i expect us to win!!

Ouch, AJ and Arteta on a fitness test for tomorrow, according to OS:

Tim Howard, Andrew Johnson, Mikel Arteta will undergo fitness tests ahead of Thursday's Uefa Cup game.

And Steven Pienaar and Thomas Gravesen are also an injury worries for Everton manager David Moyes.

Pienaar?!

I was hoping that he would get a game against this team so we can see if he can perform against european opposition. From what I saw of him on Saturday he played quite well ran round like a blue assed fly and gave a few fouls away....doesn't sound that good actually but he was more noticeable then Osman. :D

I watched the game and Celtic were awful particularly in the first half. 2 nil down after 8 minutes. Celtic were all over the place defensively.
OK Shakhtar have some very good strikers but as they are the Ukranian equivalent of Chelsea, bankrolled by a billionaire and aiming to win the CL you would expect that. I don't believe this Metalist lot have players anywhere near that calibre.
The lost 3 nil on Sunday to the second placed team Dnjepr Dnjepropetrovsk and are currently in 5th place, 11 points behind Shakhtar after only 9 games.

UEFA CUP GAME

WE NEED THE YAK TO PROVE HE`S AN EVERTONIAN AND SCORE AGAIN.
AJ MUST DELIVER AND WHEN NEEDED FADDY MUST TAKE PART.
LEIGHTON IS DOING OK BUT WE NEED HOWARD FIT AND IN NETS FROM THE
START. HOPE WE WIN BY AT LEAST 2. CAUSE IF WE GET THRU TO NEXT STAGE
CAHILL WILL JOIN US.

AJ has to play

If fit AJ needs to play, forget McFadden and his european experience. your heads have been turned by the 1 goal he scored against France. Granted I think he needs to play more to give him a chance... but AJ needs to play more.

I feel that if AJ plays tonight he will have a great chance of grabbin a couple which is excellent for our progress in the competition and also a boost for his confidence which will I believe will have a knock on effect in the league and will see him return to his old scoring ways.

what do you think?

Tough one to call Porkie...AJ needs a goal and dropping him could be a confidence killer but Faddy is the man in form - came on as sub v Reading and looked good, started against Blackburn and didnt look great but scored, then scores two goals for Scotland in a game and a half and got 5 mins against Man Utd and had our best chance - i dont think its fair to say peoples heads have been turned just cause of one goal for scotland.

Its 50-50 in my eyes -i would probably start with AJ but if nothing was happening i would give Faddy a good 30-40 mins - he deserves a proper chance surely?

Seen some calls for a 4-3-3 - Sounds exotic but I would choke on my pint if moyesy started like that, and we need to at least start with our strongest team (thats defo AJ in my eyes if fit). Difficult to know what we'll look like without those fitness test results - god i hope its all a cunning plan.

I see mcfadden doing a bit better later on as a sub when AJ's ran them into the ground.

Hopefully we'll be a couple up by the break then we can rest a couple of the lads for sunday. Throw Mcfadden Vic and Stubbsey on for the second half.

PS how many subs do we get in UEFA?
