I'm optimistic, which to be frank is terrifying.
I remember thinking that when the mags came back up and humped us 5-1This is odd. I'm not fearful at all.
I'm....... c, c, con, err, confident?
lollolLike many I've haven't felt this confident going into a derby in years.
I'm putting this down one main reason - knowing that Slippy G won't be there to dive in the box for an 89th minute pen / score a screamer from 40 yards / feign injury and get one of ours sent off / attempt to ref the game as he normally did / etc, etc.
Carra was on SSN earlier bemoaning the fact that for the first time in ages the RS will have no local players in their side - a fact that could also be telling.

I'm confident and I don't share this fear and pessimism that a lot of blues do. Maybe its because I grew up in the 90s, a period in which we used to regularly batter them.
The reason we underperform as a team in derby matches (give or take one or two ridiculous tactical set ups like the 13/14 Anfield derby) is because our players who have previously been on the top of their game fail to turn up. This time round at least 2 out of Barkley, Lukaku and Delofeu will need to play towards the top of their abilities. This plus competent performances from all the others should be enough.
