Match Thread Everton vs Liverpool - POSTPONED

What's to disagree with you've just been told shop signs have been blown off, a huge tree blew down in Mossley Hill, yet you seem to think a game should of gone ahead. You think it's a great idea, considering our ground is right by a park to risk fans lives so you can enjoy the match.
I don’t think the wind is bad enough.

lol at “enjoy the match” too.

Odd how the majority of other games in the Premier League are going ahead given the obligations you mentioned.

The decisions are localised and made jointly by the Police, Council and the respective clubs concerned. Nearly 40,000 people to consider on the streets.

Definitely a shame a lot of people are disappointed, myself included... but none more than the fans who have shelled out a fortune to come and watch it. However, everyone is safe so thats the main thing regardless of any meteorological whataboutery.

Football in general is a nightmare for local police and emergency services. I’m not remotely surprised they’d want to call a game off. They would happily have football not exist if they had the chance. Same as large concerts/ events.

Its a Public Order issue. Historically, this areas Police have had no problems with the thousands of people at both grounds each week. Theyve coped with matches while other highly attended events were on at the same time. European Forces and Councils have often come over to learn from the blueprint here. Unlike us who might, they rightly don't take chances

That wasn’t at the football.

Can you answer my question?
what question was that? I was making a point that the weather was/is bad in this region. To play the game would mean 40,000 people travelling to the ground, 40,00 people travellign home afterwards, the increasing the probability of someone being under a tree when it falls, or alongside a truck that is blown by the wind. Trains are now getting cancelled including the 15:33 from LS I was due to be on.

Correct call, no one gets hurt going to a game, you cry your little eyes out coz your plans were disrupted.

One of our blues fans got killed in less wind in an away game a while ago tragically...

I understand that - but that can happen at any match.

Especially at Goodison. A gust of wind could always make damage and cause debris.

I agree though if they were going off the reports it should have been postponed in advance before people travelled.
Was cancelled pretty early this morning if still affected anyone just part and parsial of being a wool I'm afraid

Old Trafford is falling apart, if the wind is as bad as suggested then the roof will be flying around the pitch this evening
I was walking through the Park earlier and it didn't seem that bad...
