Everton Youth Teams Thread

Henan seemed like he was going to get an opportunity with the first team when Unsworth came in as caretaker - might see if I can watch this as I don’t know a lot about the current crop of kids

I thought that was the best I’ve seen Josh Bowler play for us, perhaps for the first time he started to show why we pursued and bought him. I’m baffled as to why he was substituted so early , I could see the need for Hornby coming on , but it was done at the expense of the guy who looked like our best player and could provide the crosses for goals.
Game could have gone either way at the end and we missed a chance or two, there was one delightful chipped 30 yard pass from Walsh who looked a bit rusty against the RS but he’s getting back his form again. Harry Charsley coming on and playing in his best position nearly got the winner. I haven’t been convinced by Markelo at full back yet , but at 18 plenty of time for him to develop. Our weakness at this level remains our inability to score goals, Henen and Sambou are not really impressing and Antony Evans isn’t progressing as we once thought he would. Feeney and Gibson looked sound enough as our CB pairing , caught out at times but hey a clean sheet is welcome at any level these days.

Biggest fear of the next 18 months is what happens to the likes of Dowell. Could see him flourishing under a manager valuing clever passing and technique. Or shipped out under an old school "get into em'" type.
