Everton Youth Teams Thread

Was properly impressed by him this evening. Tracked back well, very physically strong, and is a decent poacher - could have seen him putting away a couple that Jelavic and Kone have passed up this season. Not saying he should be in the first team like.

Saw more of Kennedy in the 2nd half - looks a really good player when he's arsed, but just as often goes AWOL.

While we were the better team IMO, I think we were lucky to come out of it with something - Hope's second came from their keeper needlessly faffing (think Howard vs Chelsea but slightly less ridiculous), and the penalty was really poorly taken. Full credit to the lads though, they do look like a solid team. Very tight at the back, but a bit of a tendency to get 2 to 3 chasing the same player and taking a few goes to get sight of the ball - or in the worst case, ending up out of position with one of their lads in plenty of space.

Not the most astute spectator in the world though, so would be keen to hear what others at the game thought of them.

I actually thought Hope's all round game was really poor mate especially first half. Poor choice of passes, holding onto it too long and running into players. But fair play to him he knuckled down and got himself a couple of goals and was unlucky not to grab a hat trick. Same with Kennedy who I thought was poor but improved slightly 2nd half. Really impressed with Browning at centre back though, and like you said mate you can tell they are a really close knit bunch of lads who work hard for each other. How ****e was there number 9 though!!!

I went tonight and the question everyone asks you is any one likely to come through? I think this is very hard to say as the gulf between premier league and under 21 is so big .Also if one comes through that's a huge bonus as its very possible no one will come through.
For what its worth I thought all the players looked really poor in the first half ,but the second half they all seemed to have more energy than Chelsea although they looked the more comfortable on the ball. all in all I thought we were slightly lucky to get a win.

Yeah, the biggest reassurance on that front is that none of the Chelsea players really looked all that either. Swift looked promising early on and scored an excellent goal, but all but vanished in the 2nd half. No one set the world on fire, but we acquitted ourselves well and I think it's fair to assume that at least one or two lads from both sides will make the step up.

Agreed mate, huge difference in quality so its hard to gage who could make the step up. Lundstram definitely has something about him, and Browning has potential. They were the 2 that stood out for me tonight.

yeah that swift looked quality first half then was non existent 2nd half and thats what played a part in their 2nd half performance.

Just tweeted that I wished the club could stream Under-21 games on the OS, tonight's would've been a great game to watch by all accounts :)

I done it also mate this morning. The website manager got back to me and said they are hoping to stream the U21 game vs United which is coming up soon I think. I said people would be willing to pay £10 each and I got numerous RT's also, he said its a great idea but they want to do it properly with commentary ect

Anyone know how is Green doing? He came with big expectations and seemed to fall off track a little bit, hopefully he's back to fulfilling his potential

he's still only about 17 mate. don't think he's fallen off track, just that he's playing against men much older than him. good to hear he got a hat-trick though, he really is one to look out for in a few years, and we have a boss who won't be scared to throw him in there.

others on here will be able to answer your question better than me though.
