As well as Lewis Dobbin the other new name in the squad today was Jack McIntyre , goalkeeper and another Schoolboy, which means either we’ve got more GK injuries we don’t know about or someone thinks he’s showing promise and giving him early exposure.

Of the 27 goals we’ve scored in our 8 league games, Simms has got 14, Phillips 7 , Adedoyin 4 , that’s 25 out of the 27, and in the two cup games, 5 goals scored, Simms 2 , Adedoyin 1, Phillips 1, that’s 4 out of the five scored by them . I don’t recall any of our u18 attackers being this productive in recent years, not even Brewster, Broadhead, Holland came close. While the defence seems to chop, and change a bit it looks like we have a consistent mid field 3 driving us forward in Iversen , Carroll and Hunt . It’ll be interesting to see how they compare with other leading u18 teams, though as a caveat we have had virtually all our best players available with only Gordon playing up occasionally at U23s , plus a few injuries .

Thanks for that blueloon, this team must have a good chance of going far in the FA Youth Cup this season.

We think that nearly every season and they end up fluffing it
Well I haven't had a chance to see them live up to now, but reading about them and seeing bits and pieces on the Everton website they look pretty good with plenty of goals in them, Simms and Phillips look very good along with a few more, anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them, as you indicate we are due for a go at this cup.

..it’s always the litmus test for me. FA Youth Cup winners invariably have at least one very good one.
Apart from Chelsea who have won it the last 6 years and only got loftus cheek through who had played about 2 games. Where as we have produced countless players for the first team and not got past round 4 for 10 years??
