Everton Youth Teams Thread

Remainder the Premier League 2 Leaders EVERTON U23S are away to 3rd place Brighton u23s tomorrow night hoping to increase there 1 point lead at the top to 4 points even if it maybe for one day,a lost for Everton would mean Brighton overtake us - ko is 7pm--so far its not on Brightons website and even if it is,there is usually a charge and Everton have said nothing as usual

On Simms form this season he might have been the difference between winning and losing,
It’s always hard to tell the relative strengths of u18 teams as the best players get promoted quickly, certainly the RS best player at this age is Curtis Jones who’s playing up a level. Gordon was missing too for us , but the biggest difference was perhaps in defence when early in the season we had a back four of Kyle John, Astley, Collins , Joe Anderson . I think that back four would have been more secure. But heh ho , who knows .

Well according to transfermarkt both our full-backs tonight aren’t even defenders for a start.

Err, not sure what transfermarkt is mate but Pawel Zuk was touted as a fast , tricky winger and future stars at one time and is another in our long line of “ we ain’t got any right backs, let’s try a winger there” but in fairness has appeared at RB a few times this season . Tom Warren was originally midfield, also has played at left back a few times, not as often as Zuk. From memory it was mainly Moore ? at right back last seasonand he didn’t get a contract, Joe Anderson mainly left back. So you’d think Zuk and Warren are going to struggle to get a professional contract at the end of this season.

Yeh that’s what I mean. You could see the massive difference having two proper full-backs made with Liverpool last night. Anderson is another Gibson/Holgate if he’s getting shoved out there - he’s 100% a CB.

Pretty poor performance in general last night. Thought the gap between the midfield and attack was a little too big at times and we went long way too often. Liverpool just seemed as a team a little more up for it than us but we did well to get back to 3-3.

- Keeper had great distribution and seemed pretty safe. Only 16 too I think?
- Full-backs as above wasn’t impressed going back or forwards but they’re not full-backs.
- Really impressed with Anderson and can see him making the step up to U23’s, not too sold on McKeown but he isn’t first choice anyway.
- Carroll was impressive as always but also though Iversen had a good, diligent game next to him. Covered intelligently when Zuk was slow to get back.
- Really liked Hunt, as said has the touch of Dowell about him, tall lad for 16 as well. Hughes didn’t really impress all that much
- Adedoyin looked a little bored at times, think he’s maybe too good for that level, equally selfish at times too. Phillips is a lot faster than I thought and looked to have a nice touch. Promising for both of them.
- Subs weren’t really on long enough to notice except the one with the ridiculous Hansen haircut.

Are they playing a back 3 or is Charsley playing further forward? Good to see Bowler get a start, but if we are playing wing backs why play an out and out winger? Strange line up.

Can't for the life of me see why Unsworth is being so loyal to Sambou either. Watch him get a hat trick nowlol

1-0 EVERTON U23S ON 15MINS - Markelo

The brighton keeper trying a pickford and not been as good for that goal lol

The Seagulls have played 14 matches at their training base since the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign, recording nine victories, four draws and just one defeat over that time.
