Everton Youth Teams Thread

There are some noticeable differences in the style the U23s play compared to the first team. Throughout the season Unsworth has used man to man marking , with all the shoving
Was at the academy awards night at city tonight and they showed snippets from games involving u9s all the was up to u23s and all the teams play exactly the same way, when you see it, it's quite impressive.

The u23s are a solid, hard to beat not very exciting team to watch generally. If all the other teams down to u9s play like the u23s that is scary rather than impressive.

I think you’re going to explain that more mate. As I said in my original post there’s a big difference in style between our u18s who play largely 433 with an attacking midfield and fast attackers compared to the under 23s who have played variously , 4231 and 442 but have relied on two hard working DFMs and a defensive mentality in whatever formation chosen .

Cos we play mostly 25 year olds versus other teams 17 year olds.

Eh .?? So which part of my post is that relevant to, playing 4231 or 442 , doesn’t even make sense?

I know we had one 17 year old playing last night, I’m always happy to learn more so who were the mostly 25 year olds we had playing, do tell ?

Can see us switching to 4-3-3 myself next season in the first team.

Dunno, dont really bother with the yoots myself, just something I read.

Is he talking about Man City? Or have I read it wrong

I agree with most sentiments the youth teams need to be used purely to help players fast track to the first team. I’d go for a Dutch style setup similar to PSV and given brands success with it previously it’s the way forward if we can get 3/4 first teamers out of the youths it’s a good result
