He was with the squad yesterday but didn’t make the final eighteen. I agree with you one or two of the youngsters should be in the squad every week and at least sit on the bench, especially in away games, travelling and staying overnight with team, make them feel that they are part of the squad, Gordon and a couple more will eventually get their game time in the very near future.

It does seem strange to be fair
I struggle to understand why he is not on the bench. Brands has often spoke about career progression for the younger players and yet not one of these players has made the bench since he became DOF apart from those who have made it that far already eg Kenny,Beni and Davies. When he was at PSV did any of their youth players get the chance in the first team squad?
The first team squad have mostly underperformed this season so again I cannot understand why none of them have been given an opportunity. Brands managed to get shot of some deadwood from both the first team squad and the under 23s in the summer which should have meant one or two of the current youngsters being pushed forward.
Has Silva said that he doesn’t want them because they’re not good enough or is it part of the long term project .
Confused
Silva picks the senior side, not Brands. An under fire Silva is unlikely to experiment. I agree they should be getting a chance all the same.

I understand he picks the team but surely if his team is underperforming you would think that he would pick a young player who might help his team perform better.
9 out of 10 managers in his position would play the senior players over untested youth squad players. At least until the pressure is lifted a bit.
