EVERTON U23S TEAM

Tyrer, Foulds, Feeney, Ouzounidis, Astley, Markelo, Adeniran, Evans, John, Mampala, Simms,
Subs Defreitas-Hansen, Onyango, Iversen, Joe Anderson, Denny
Interesting quotes from u 18 manager Paul Tait , basically saying that most U23s PL 2 teams have U19s / 1st year Pros at their core and we have older players still around blocking U19s.
"It's a younger league now, I think. For us, we've still got a few players around who are a little bit older at that age so it's tough for the first-year pros to get in.“

Of that team that played Southampton, 7 outfield players were older than U19s , at least 2nd year pros , with a few like Foulds, Feeney, Markelo, Adeniran, Evans having been around a few years. The difficulty is we need some experience in the side and there weren’t enough U19s coming through to fill all the spots, from memory only Kieran Phillips who moved up has not had any real opportunity. We also certainly have a younger u23 team than in recent years so have been moving people on recently and I think are starting to get there in terms of younger players coming through.

Everton Under-18s striker Lewis Dobbin declared his pride after signing his first professional contract with the Club, as he set out his desire to continue improving his all-round game.

The talented attacker, who turned 17 last week, has penned a deal until the end of June 2022.

Dobbin has hit six goals in 10 U18 Premier League (North) appearances this season.

The Stoke-born teenager joined the Blues aged 11 and paid tribute to his family and the coaching staff at Everton for aiding his impressive progress.

“Signing a first pro deal is a really proud moment for me and my family and shows hard work can pay off,” Dobbin told evertonfc.com.

“I really want to push for more in future.

“My family have helped me a lot through my whole time playing football. They have made a lot of sacrifices for me and their dedication has paid off in this moment.

They have done individual work with me to help improve the areas I needed to most.”

Dobbin pinpointed the aspects of game he believes he can develop – and set out his goals for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

“My finishing with both feet needs to improve, as well as winning headers up against defenders and scoring goals with my head,” he added.

“It’s been hard going up the age groups, playing against older and more physical players. A real test. I feel I have matured and adapted to the football well.

“I want make my breakthrough into the Under-23s, and try to become a regular towards the end of the season.

“I have to keep working hard, be patient and keep improving my game

Lots of doom and gloom around the club but this season we’ve done a good job of tying down all our best youngstera.

....looks a fine young footballer to me. I don’t know why, but some players just look right and that applies to Dobbin.

Indeed. Needed to be 17 for a max three year deal I think hence timing. They’re all a few years off and as we know anything can happen at this age, but our 16/17 year olds coming through give me hope with their talents spread throughout the team - Dobbin and Tom Cannon promising attackers; Lewis Warrington, who has got a contract and Tyler Onyango who's probably next to get one, in midfield; three promising centre backs with hopefully at least one coming through.

...Onyango seems the obvious one being fast-tracked, he’s got fantastic physicality for one so young and the coaches are clearly working on his quality.

This would be my u23 team going forward for the rest of the season.
Virginia
John Astley Ouzounidis Anderson
Denny Iversen Markelo
Adedoyin Simms Mampala

Feeney, Foulds, Baningime and Evans need to go out on loan in view of them finding new clubs. I'm assuming Charsley will be released as he had had his rehabilitation. Gibson, Adeniran and Gordon should be with the first team.

What do you think of Adeniran ? I have seen him a few times and he looks like a bit of a unit .

...fabulous athlete but I fear he never really kicked on when he joined from Fulham. From the games I’ve seen, he drifts out of matches. I wonder if his inclusion in first team training is as much to do with the investment in him, but he’s certainly got the physicality required.

Thanks for the info mate . I remember watching him a few years ago and the opposition were just bouncing of him and he was making some short and precise passes . I was impressed but I haven't seen him since so your feedback was interesting . A tad depressing but interesting .

@Eggs @blueloon rumours in Ipswich now that Gibson is definitely going there on loan till the end of the season after signing a new contract with us this coming week :)

Hope it turns out true...do you think hes ready for league 1 ?
