Interesting for John to start with the number 7 shirt, indicating a right midfield/wing position after he played there in that first team friendly for Gomes. Maybe a shout from Carlo to start playing him in a more attacking role, he supposedly liked what he saw.

More of the same defensive negative 541 formation in my eyes. Unsworth doesn’t know any other way.

4-5-1 except when Ellis drops further back.... Branthwaite looks so comfortable, he’d clearly do well in League 2 even at his young age. I just hope we do develop him properly , at times Foulds and Adeniran must think they’d have been better staying put and getting game time in the lower leagues.

Yeh I was hoping it was like a 4-4-1-1 but it's not. Adeniran left mid? Just baffling. We've got a striker in Mampala on the bench to try 2 up top. I would send Branthwaite out on loan all next season even at his age. Well, to be fair, I'd have left him at Carlisle in Jan.
