I don't We have a draft league, so only 1 team per league can have any player.Everyone has him in.
I would imagine that most of the coaches have contracts that they/the club don't want to terminate.I though he would have got his own coaches in at most age groups
I always try to look for some positives, it was pretty hard tonight , but step forward Jarrad Branthwaite our best player by a mile .
Braithwaite is huge. How does he look as a comparison to Gibson?
Similar players or very different?
lol Dont know if hes joking here or what lol
David Unsworth said his Everton Under-23s team were unfortunate to see “one of our best displays of the season” go unrewarded after a late Chelsea penalty snatched a 1-0 win for the Premier League 2 leaders at Aldershot FC.
Chelsea came into the match unbeaten in the league so far this term but were pushed to the limit by Unsworth’s talented side.
The game’s decisive moment came eight minutes from time when Beni Baningime was adjudged to have fouled England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the Chelsea penalty area.
Luke McCormick smashed in the resulting spot-kick and the home side saw out the victory.
“It was an outstanding performance away from home,” Unsworth told evertonfc.com.
“We had opportunities, but we had to sit in for large spells of the game and our shape was excellent.
“The players put a great shift in.
“But I expect that from this team. I’ve always said that you can never question the desire or the attitude of this team.
“In my opinion, it wasn’t a penalty and we couldn’t legislate for that.
“It was one of our best displays of the season and it should put us in good stead for what we’ve got left".
"The players executed our gameplan to the letter.”
The late penalty was a cruel blow after the Toffees had been resolute against the table-topping west London outfit.
Everton had been well-organised, disciplined and determined in defence, particularly in the second 45 minutes when Chelsea applied a lot of pressure.
Both sides played some decent possession football in the first period but neither goalkeeper was seriously tested.
For Everton, a cross-shot from Ryan Astley fizzed across the Chelsea goalmouth and an effort from distance by Baningime cleared the target.
At the other end Chelsea skipper Ian Maatsen had a clear sight of goal in the 40th minute but he pulled his shot well wide.
The hosts started the second half very much in the ascendency, but Everton defended well.
Jonathan Russell appeared for all the world to have given Chelsea the lead at the far post but Jarrad Branthwaite made a fabulous last-ditch goalline clearance.
Then, shortly after, Harry Tyrer dived to his right to parry away a fierce drive from Dynel Simeu.
Tyrer was also well-positioned to catch both a well-struck free-kick from Tariq Uwakwe on 67 minutes and a curling shot from Lewis Bate one minute later.
When Chelsea made the breakthrough from the penalty spot seven minutes from time, the Toffees rallied and Matthew Foulds saw a free-kick saved by Jamie Cumming in the Chelsea goal.
The home team held on, though, to move three points clear at the top of the table. Everton remain in seventh position. Next up for Unsworth’s side is a Premier League Cup last-16 clash with Reading at Southport FC on Sunday (2pm).
Yeah comparing Branthwaite with Gibson is the obvious one, both joined us at 17 , left sided centre backs, good physiques, Branthwaite taller and perhaps a bit skinnier. Both like to get forward with the ball and certainly Branthwaite looks comfortable going on runs . Branthwaite is very good in the air , rarely missing a header and using his height well. He’s made a good start at our club, Id assume he’d get an England call up this year, early days yet but a good punt I’d say.How does he look as a comparison to Gibson?

In my opinion all 3 teams should play the same system with u23 being made up of the best u18s a couple of young players and also perhaps a couple of the older players who can pass on their experience. Baines playing in the u23s would have been a good player for them to learn off. Players aged 19-22 if exceptional should be with first team squad if need a little work loan them out to teams who play a similar type of game to us. I'm also not really a fan of multi positioning unless a player really doesn't fit one specific position. It's certainly hindered Connolly and Kenny played a lot at CB in his youth days which in my opinion has held him back as an attacking RB.

Very disappointed in Unsworth against Chelsea. Simms was so isolated it was criminal. We have a natural goalscorer on our hands but he can't do anything when every other player is 50 foot away from him every time the ball was hoofed up to him. It was very depressing to see the lack of passing in the team. The players themselves seem talented but the tactics were awful. My concern is young players are not learning good lessons. They should see a game against Chelsea as a chance to shine and show their talents. Instead they played with a mindset that Chelsea were far better than them and their only chance of getting anything out of the game was to park the bus. Only person responsible for that is Unsworth. How will we ever produce a top class player from the youth teams with that attitude.
I think it doesn’t help when he’s pals with bill and over friendly with Denise Barrett Baxendaleunsworths recent comments about how well he gets on with brands worries me that we wont see a change in the summer.
