He was given quite a big pay increase when his contract was extended. Think he may have been on about £50k before. At the time he was a regular in the England squad and in excellent form for us. I didn't see many people kicking up a fuss at the time. If you were one who did, and I cba checking, well fair do's

Against Blackburn U23s Ryan Astley was very much the senior defender , organising the defence, anticipating and getting his head to dangerous crosses etc. But there’s reasons why Welch and not Astley is training with the first team not least he’s two years younger and four inches taller . He’s got great potential , is very comfortable playing out from the back , carrying the ball forward and doing the stuff CBs need to do but crikey give the kid chance to develop.

WellI don’t know if I kicked up a fuss over his wage increase, check back you’ll see that I have never took to this player, he has always been an handicap as far as I’m concerne, never seen him play consistently well. He can’t think fast, no aggression, flounders when he is attacked by opponents, static, always been a mistake in him, I don’t know if he makes the other defenders nervous but he certainly gives me the jitters, he is an English international, how many of those caps have been in competitive games, he’s played in quite a few friendly England games, I think Southgate learned not to trust him, when was was his last England cap in a competitive competition. Do you think any premier league club would attempt to buy him and would we recoup half of the fee we paid for him if they did.

At the time he signed his new contract we probably would have made a profit on him. At the moment, the whole game is messed up financially because of the covid effect so it's unfair to ask that question now. But I do think at least half of the current premier teams would take him without hesitation.

He's had plenty of detractors on here since he first signed, but the majority blow hot and cold dependant on his form. As I said, not many on here were blowing off when the new contract was given, and the vast majority of posts were saying it was deserved. That came on the back of a good season for us. He also played well most of last season too, but he ended it badly and has started this season with 2 mistakes which both cost us. I'm not making a kneejerk reaction on the back of that. he's still a decent squad player and back-up for Mina.

No I don’t think it is unfair to ask the question: would we recoup,half of the fee we paid to sign him, there’s still plenty of money knocking about for good players, Keane is not one of them and we wouldn’t have got half of our money back if we had sold him before the knockdown, he was poor when we bought him and he’s twenty nine this year he’s not going to get any better, more likely he’ll get even slower, if it’s possible and the mistakes will more frequent, a club would have to be really desperate to sign him and I can’t see any premier league club that desperate.

Disagree mate.

There is very little in the way of transfers going on across Europe. Even in the premier league spending is down £600m on 12 months ago which itself was down on the previous 3 years. Most clubs outside the top 6 are only spending what they've managed to bring in from sales.

And if you really believe that clubs like Norwich, Brentford, Newcastle, Burnley, Leeds, Wolves, Brighton, Watford, Southampton, Villa and Palace would have to be desperate to sign Keane, you need to have a closer look at their actual squads mate. And 12 months we would definitely have got back at least what we paid.

Yes I do believe that,,really, really desperate, and if you think we’d have got our money back, on what we paid for Keane twelve months ago, I really wish you were manager of one of those clubs. You are right though in that clubs are really holding back,on wasting money on players like Keane.

I couldn't disagree more if I tried. I think your intense dislike of the player seems to be clouding your judgment .
