Let's say the strengthened the rules do you really think we'd be able to produce better than what we have now? It's not coaching that's letting the lads down it's just ability. Man City etc. already hoover up the talent so would be even worse if the HG rules were stronger.

something like 4 players in your matchday squad should be u23 and been part of your academy from age 16, open to tweaking and hearing pros and cons obviously before setting something in stone.
we're already seeing young players being wiser about their choices about which clubs they are going to.

….I don’t think it’s a ‘fluff piece’, it’s a ’stating the obvious piece’.
Every manager would love a few outstanding youngsters coming through, the big challenge is finding them.

We have already had the unsworth "the manager is taking a keen interest in the academy" line I think benitez could have put Dobbin and Whittaker on the bench for Huddersfield or Brighton .
In fairness, the U23s had games the night before both those matches - Liverpool and Palace respectively. Not only would they have been physically tired but they’d have missed the match specific preparation the day before. If we are serious about giving them minutes on the pitch with the first team they need to be given the optimum preparation so they can make the most of their chances.

You would assume benitez would liase with unsworth regarding if he needed one or two of the u23s to travel with the first team unfortunately I don't see a new manager looking at the academy
Yeah you’d hope so. But there was much made of Ancelotti being involved , taking 4 youngsters away with the first team, none got any first team minutes, two missed an important Youth Cup match. Sometimes they’re better playing, even at U23s , than just benchwarming for show.

There’s an interesting piece on 16 year old midfielder Isaac Heath on the club’s website, it seems we got him from Leeds as a13 year old, so likely one of the last to come in before the transfer ban . It covers his parents taking him from Leeds to Finch Farm for training until he moved into digs with fellow 1st year Scholar Troy Smikle-James , who presumably also comes from outside the area. We’re introducing these youngsters to a wider audience, Jenson Metcalfe earlier this week, but still no information on our site, photo, short biography etc ?
Whitaker was on the pre season trip to THE USA and Dobbin got a run out against Utd.
Onyango will also be involved when fit.
As far as I know some of these young lads train with the seniors at FF.
