Everton Youth Teams Thread

Tezgel was in the same u17 squad as Samuels- Smith at the UEFA u17 tournament last month. Neither started the first game against France , both started the second against Luxembourg - England lost them both. . The player who caught my eye was Mainoo of United , he looks a real prospect.
Mainoo is an excellent player, United best prospect however he’s also a year older than both the players you mention.

Whilst Samuel-Smith and Tezgel are still school preparing for their GCSE’s Kobi’s been training full time as a scholar for a year now. He is very good though.

Everton u18s lose 1-0 at stoke u18s to keep up that 1 goal a game either way that has happened in away games the last 8 (Bar one 0-0)
--------
Everton finish their u18s campaign a week tonight home to a very inform forest team who are 3rd and just won 1-0 at Liverpool today, they are unbeaten since Feb the last 12 all comps (or 10 the u18s league)

Noticed Isaac Price was on the bench against Liverpool. He must be impressing in training with the first team. Looked at the highlights of U23s against West Ham and the goal by Cannon is an interesting one to watch - we win ball in our own half and you can see Price in centre of pitch in front of the defence. As Cannon scores you can see Price arriving in the box at real speed - if Cannon squares the ball its a tap in for Price. He's clearly a terrific athlete. If we weren't in the mire we may well have seen him get some first team minutes.

Stoke have an outstanding u16 striker, Emre Tezgel, he’s probably the best u16 in the country but I’m not sure he’ll play tomorrow. I think he’s an u23 regular now.

I’d have liked to have seen how we dealt with him.

I have faintly heard of Tezgel, i have someone i know via twitter who is a stoke fan and will be watching the game via car park lol, if they don let him in

He’s top drawer. I’ve just looked now and he’s played for their u23s today and scored both their goals so he definitely won’t be involved tomorrow.

Emilio is a really good player but he struggles to get games for England as unfortunately for him, Tezgel is the first name on the team sheet.

He also recently won top scorer and player of the tournament whilst playing for England in a big competition where many of the top nations were present.

With this Tezgel mentioned and other players that are under 17 and yet to sign a professional contract what is the process for premier league clubs to sign them?

Im confused why the top clubs arent making offers to their clubs and promising these kids a top contract when they turn 17 ?

Would surely make sense for premier league clubs to sweep up all the young talent in the divisions below...

@blueloon how are you watching England youth teams -- are you physically there or are they televised?

There’s usually links to a lot of the England games online whilst in relation to young prospects, clubs can sign them.

If the player refuses a scholar contract at 16, it goes to a tribunal but the fee is usually well below their real value. We may have this issue with Emilio Lawrence, as he was refusing to sign a scholar.

If he does sign a scholar, he can still be signed in the normal way signings are made but the fee will generally be a lot higher then.

The fee is depended on loads of factors but there’s loads of clubs aggressively recruiting from cat 2 clubs especially now. We just don’t seem to be one of them.

Chelsea were getting strongly linked with Tezgel who I mentioned before Abromavich left.

City look like they’re about to sign an unbelievably good u16 winger from Mexico (I think) who plays in the US. I think he’s agreed to join them this summer.

I sometimes watch streams / YouTubes of England matches if a young Everton player is involved, that’s about it .

Cheers. Why do you think we "dont seem" to be after the 16 year olds at lower division clubs?

It seems very strange to me and hopefully Thelwell and the incoming new academy Director (to replace Unsworth) will put that right.

Cool ;) time difference probably too much of a killer for me unless early afternoon games. Staying awake till 4am to watch Everton is probably my limit at the moment lol

The u23s Highlights from last night

It’s difficult to pick out anything new from such short highlights. Dobbin as we know is a class act at this level, Cannon is starting to impress me , a cooly taken goal, nice free kick against the post to create the 3rd. He’s not in the same class as Dobbin, or Simms for that matter , but he may be working himself up for a lower league loan. Our defending was pretty poor, and really those advocating for Mills to play full back need to watch these highlights. He’s great as an attacking threat, but his basic positioning as a defender is just not there.

I was thinking watching it - its a good job Cannon scored, with the player free to the left

Always find knee slide celebrations funny in games like this with no crowd to slide to.
