Everton Youth Teams Thread

So Everton's U18 team will be participating in a tourney near my home in Dallas this April. Figured I'd go to check out the squad and to support Everton in general. I've only been following the U21's so far though, any names on the U18's that I should be aware of or pay attention to?

From watching the youth games I can certainly tell that Samuels-smith, barker, sherif and obere look promising
But the 2 midfielders Patterson and apter have styles we havnt seen in a while

Great summary, the intriguing one making his mark of late is Callum Bates in midfield. I’d also add in Jensen Metcalfe as he’s just coming back after long term injury.

Dallas cup is a huge tourney in world football. Great to see we are in it again.

looking at the current u21s (including the ones out on loan) I think we have a good batch but looking at the 18s we have a more specialised bunch of lads who look like they could move onto first teams compared to taking the u21s to victory

….I’d be more hopeful there was talent in that group if they got the latter stages of an FA Youth Cup. It’s a competition that’s always been a great benchmark but one we’ve done miserably in for quite a few years.

Basing your entire opinion on a whole group of players on one knockout tournament is mental. As if Chelsea have no talent in their group for being dumped out the 3rd round of the FA cup

You can have talent and not win a football match you know, Eggs. Greece won a Euros.

….it’s not a definite & players can still come through but I see it as a proper benchmark of real talent. Rooney was in a poor side that got the final. Osman, Hibbert & Dunne were winners, Jeffers, Cadamarteri etc. I recall Husband and Hurst winning it in ‘65. The great United youngsters, the West Ham team with Cole, Carrick and a few more.

In a club like ours, I like to see us have a run in that cup. I think it can highlight a real talent or a good crop.

Like death and taxes. lol In the last 10 years Chelsea have won it 5 times, City, United, Arsenal and the RS once, the only outlier being Villa. I sense a theme here.

…yep, i suspect they use the global market for talent. A few seasons ago I ‘think’ we knocked out City & Chelsea before coming up against that Villa side. The CB, Reece Welch was impressive in that run but I’ve been disappointed when watching him since.

We have been getting knocked out by clubs without reputation & it would be good to see us getting to latter stages.

Reputation ! I'm glad I'm old enough to remember when we had a good one.
