Everton Youth Teams Thread

….i admit to first noticing Dixon when coming on as a sub recently. I also admit to forming almost immediate opinions on players, particularly those that ‘just seem right’ and have something about them. I posted I liked Dixon despite him only featuring for 10mins.

Seems like a few more knowledgable watchers have been highlighting him for a bit. Surprised to see he turns 19 in a few weeks, so he’s no spring chicken as far as youth football is concerned and I’m a little concerned he’s crept under the radar. RB a really problematic position for us, I wonder if he’s highly rated within the club and if he’s been training with the first team;

He's trained with the seniors quite a few times this season - mostly during international breaks though.

Dixon was highly rated a few years ago I seem to remember, before the name change from Quintyne, might have been before he joined the 18s. Looks like a player who's coasted because of his speed to me and the last year or so, he's plateaued. He played pretty well tonight but against a poor Southampton team and with the very experienced Kyle John (another right back) playing in front (and often behind) him.

That Tyler dibling looks a nice player for Southampton though. Will be keeping an eye on his career.

Yeah he was the one player on their team that really got his head down and tried to keep creating a chance for Saints.

Didn't he have quite a long spell out for us?

yeh he was playing up with the u21s/u23s early on but is another one that injuries have blighted.

This season Dixon has started consistently for us, well except when that Coleman fella was picked ahead of him , regular games makes a big difference . I remember him and Metcalfe unexpectedly playing for the u23s as schoolboys , about 2 1/2 years ago I guess. Both have been plagued with injuries , as a result neither have progressed as quickly as I’d hoped , neither are anywhere near first team level yet, but for me they remain the two most likely to progress.

….thanks for the insight. Dixon is 19 in a few weeks (Boxing Day), regardless of injuries I’d be thinking he’d be more involved with the first team at that age, especially given the problems at RB.

Like the look of Metcalfe the more I see of him , looks a modern midfielder does a bit of everything.
