Everton Youth Teams Thread

Youth set up becomes increasingly important in FFP world. Not only for bringing players in for “free” but also for raising FFP cash without amortisation on sales.

Need to beef this area up
We will see the big clubs holding on to young players longer with no actual intention of using them for the first team I reckon and using the loan system to up there profile!

Jaden Philogene went to Hull for around £5m in the summer, Hull will look to make 5 times that in less than a year! Same happened with Morgan Rogers who Boro bought for £1m from City & sold on to Villa for £8m!

1 good season at Championship level for any of the thousand players City, Chelsea & the reds have on there books and they can make £30-40m on them!

The best thing for an academy or a youth set up can usually be something as basic as the team being in Europe!

It provides opportunity, especially for the likes of the reds who can coast through the European Super Bit Of A Laugh Cup!

Most young lads get there opportunity through the lesser European Cups & show themselves as more of an option for the 1st team that way!

In our current state! Rightly or wrongly you could kill a young player by throwing them into these battling games!

You look at anyone who has come through our acadamy/youth system, it usually stems down to starting a few games in Europe mainly

Calvert Lewin/Davies/Kenny etc got game time in the 2017/18 campaign (even Antony Gordon got his debut that year)

Go furthar back to your Rodwells, Anichebes, Vaughans, Baxters, Wallace etc......all got game time over that period of Europa League football under Moyes
Completely agree and for me this is why we've been so loan focused with our better youth players over the last few years.

£63 mill from Academy players last year was pretty significant, it probably kept us afloat, but that cupboard is now bare unless you include Branthwaite, maybe Dobbin to any ambitious club who makes us a good offer.
