Cheers mate, fantastic result . I was holding my breath as I watched the last 20 mins of Liverpool v Wolves , so to me it doesn't matter too much if it's the un18s ....... " I never felt more like singing the blues ....":)
Korede Adeydoyin appears to be another of those 16 year old who's not joined the Academy yet, saw his name at another game this year but know nothing about him.

I'm not sure it's politics mate. It's more a demographic isuse. Holland was just behind an Everton team that had the strongest youth age group in the country by a mile and our strongest in 20 years. That youth team have had lots of experience playing above themselves and has meant they have left limited opportunities for lads slightly below them.

Holland always looked a decent player to me. He was quite quick without being electric. Could cross a ball well but always a little lightweight. For me he isn't getting a game on merit. Dowell I occupying one wide side and lads like Charsley are playing the other side and playing well. Broadhead has only just got a chance. If we wanted to keep him I imagine we'd have made more of an effort but he is a long way off.
Yep I get that. Where the politics starts is when Rhino only plays his strongest side instead of developing other players as well. Let's face it, development is more important than results in this age group. Rhino is playing the strongest side so that he gets a good record. He's looking for a management job.

not really fair, hes given the lads not getting on in the league chances in the other comps and holland still wasnt really getting a look in.

I'm only going on what I'm told but I understand what you're saying. My own thoughts are that if NH wasn't getting a look in because DU wants to play his strongest side then he needed to prove himself more.

I look at it differently mate. Unsworth has tended to play his strongest team when available, and I'd have thought we'd have seen a bit more rotation as has been his normal practice in previous seasons. However I believe this has been so Steve Walsh can have a really good look at them so he can factor into his long term player acquisition plans. I don't think it's any coincidence that we're now seeing a a shedload of youth players go out on loan and others being given an opportunity at U23 level.

Don't believe in doing things the easy way do they?.

Have shown great character this season that's for certain.

Who's telling you this mate? Somebody within the club or somebody with links to a player who isn't getting picked at the moment?

I think if they rotate too much at that level there aren't enough fixtures to keep everyone sharp and that doesn't benefit anyone either. It just seems that there were too many players in the squad in the first half of the season and obviously those players that can't get a game will be frustrated.

The solution would probably have been to send some of the older players in the group put on loan at the start of the season but it's very hit and miss and a bad loan move can set players back in their development. I guess there isn't a perfect strategy to keep everyone satisfied.

All I can say is if that's the case, he's playing a dangerous game. Especially with Walsh there now overseeing what he is doing. Player development has to be his priority, not his own career path.

Personally, and I may be completely off the mark, I wouldn't be surprised if your contact within the club either has some sort of issue with Unsworth, or perhaps some sort of affinity to Holland seeing as this has only come to light since he left.

Am I late to the party on this story? From Koeman's column in a Dutch paper:

As a coach, I see if a new signing can hinder the development of a new talent. We can go and sign again, but in six months a talent might just be ready.

Then you want to give him perspective. I think it’s nice to see the young players from their own training centres in England knock on the door.

I want to give them confidence. In England, they generally hesitate, and don’t play young players too early. But as a Dutchman, I just don’t hesitate to give them a chance.

exactly what i was thinking, the person that has said that must have some sort of agenda because everyone can see unsworth is doing a brilliant job in building a great team and also developing players for 1st team.

I love seeing young (especially local) lads come through the system and these forums are brilliant for keeping up to date with things, as the club tends to reveal very little, and probably rightly so.

But for the lads themselves, and for their families, this is their whole lives and futures we're talking about. A lot of hard decisions are made and hearts broken, year after year. We see Unsy as doing a fantastic job, but if you're on the wrong end of one of these decisions you'll probably see it completely different. I can imagine it very easy for somebody to harbour a grudge against him.
