F1 - 2022 Season

Mediums were rated for 50 laps, no idea why they pitted Hamilton so early... you can say track position but they should know that this is the outcome of running the slower tyre first. You either start on the softs or stick to the full stint on the mediums. They have switched to the hards before in good positions and killed their races, they've done it again.
This. No idea why the didn’t go to lap 40ish and slam the softs on and just go for it. Never in a million years where them mediums gonna struggle so badly that the hards were worth putting on.

Utterly awful strategy calls by Mercedes today have turned what should have been a 1st & 3rd into a 2nd & 4th, and that's only because Ferrari are nowhere today
I don’t think with verstappen in this current form that Mercedes’ were ever favorites for first whatever strategy they went with. Just feels that Red Bull with verstappen can cover pretty much anything this season.

I think Russell has been shafted more than Hamilton and should have been on for podium.

Nah, the Mercedes was the fastest car today. If you reverse those tyre choices, with Red Bull on Med/Hard and Mercedes on Soft/Med Mecedes easily wrap up a 1-2.
Look at Ricciardo's progress through the field with the optimal tyres strategy which Mercedes set themselves up for but completely Bottled It.
They didn't even give themselves a chance with a split strategy

You're right about Russell. Mercedes this season seem to make the wrong calls most of the season.

Red Bull just ran their expected strategy and for some reason Merc shat the bed over track position. Verstappen may have won either way but still, that was very odd. It's not like something happened in the race that would have been a logical trigger to switch to the hards either. I guess they were just obsessed with Perez not gaining track position on Hamilton which is what would have happened had they stayed out longer. With the lack of straight line speed they were presumably concerned they would not be able to overtake Perez on track.

Maybe medium to hard was always their go to strategy.
