Well the bookies have Hamilton as a 6/4 fav, so it seems they're pretty confident that he's going to be racing this year!
Max 2/1
Russell 6/1

Gotta say that I'm really excited to see how Russell goes. No reason why he can't push Hamilton very hard indeed - he's got the talent and raw pace to do so imo.

If he retires will they return the bets? Not really sure how it works in this sort of situation.

I don’t think he will retire. He won’t want to go out like that. Will also be interesting to see how Red Bull manage with controlling their own power unit now Honda have stepped away. Not ideal timing with such big rule changes coming in.

They're probably invoke a rule 4 or something similar, I reckon

Being widely speculated on the various sites that Masi is going to be replaced... which would be the least surprising thing in the world, though you can always expect FOM and the FIA to drag this sort of thing out to save as much face as the can.

I think the FIA also needs to have a serious reconsideration of its whole SC/VSC/Restart procedure. The potential is always there for it to completely turn a race upside down and unfairly advantage or disadvantage drivers simply on the whim of a random decision, and while that can throw the cat amongst the pigeons it is becoming a lottery too easily.

Remember that arguably all the stupidness in that ridiculous Jeddah race can largely be traced down to the first SC period where the Mercedes pitted and Verstappen stayed out, but then the red flag was put out, so Verstappen effectively got to restart on pole with fresh tyres anyway.

Oh dear. Weird how thats only just come out now

To be fair I don't see how that changes much, you would have had Toto on the phone looking after his interests too. Masi just sided with making it controversial and giving a talking point, this probably comes from his bosses and not RB's sporting director.

If he had said do this or I release the pictures we took in Vietnam then that might be a bit different...

It's the words motor race that are the talking point here.
Notice the words said by Redbull. Masi then later says to Mercedes. It's a motor race.

Not that's racing,.or those are the rules, or it that is my decision. But RB saying do this and we will have a motor race, then Masi saying to Mercedes that's a motor race ok.

With the dust settled, I do believe Masi favoured RB. Why? Who knows.
