F1 - 2022 Season

It's more a case that he doesn't seem to be able to hit the ground running any more and needs to build up his confidence up over the weekend. The thing that the best drivers have is an instinctive feel for the amount of grip available that enables them to get up to speed quickly, and that's what tends to decline as you get older. That's basically what happened to Schumacher when he came back - he lost his instinctive feel for the limit. Russell is completely bossing him in that respect.

Looks like any rain today will be coming after the race. Snoozefest until the Ferrari engines/gear boxes collapse and let Perez past and then he will gift max the win.

With Hamilton I don't think we can in underestimate the mental toll the end of last season took. He was minutes away from his life's dream, then got cheated out of it.
That must have hurt and hurt bad. I would imagine some of the love for the sport vanished that day and subsequent days, for him.
That will drop his edge a bit. Enough for his partner to take the lead.
I think if Mercedes are nowhere near having a decent car for next season, he should call it done.
He goes down as statistically the best driver ever. But no point flogging a dead horse and chasing something that might not be attainable.

Kin pathetic the way they don't let cars race any more when there's a sprinkling of rain. Not only the worst circuit of the season, but stopping actual racing too from the start.

Tyre choice could be pivotal here. If they’ve picked inters, they’re going to be in a lot of trouble if this rain continues. It’s getting worse too.

Edit: they’re now mandated to be on full wets.

Aren't these the so-called best drivers in the world with several sets of tyres available to them for all weather conditions? Why are they being mollycoddled by the race director as if they're not equipped or capable of racing in a bit of rain? I think every driver would want to and would feel capable of driving in this.

Why in modern day F1 are they always terrified of wet starts? Embarrassing, it will add to what is going to be an absolute procession once the track dries up

Things just keep falling into place for Verstappen just they seemed to do for Vettel when he was on his hot streak.
On a dry day Leclerc wins this at a canter and Verstappen has a frustrating afternoon staring at the back of Sainz's Ferrari. In the wet it's a lottery.

idiot race directors, get in the bin you melts

only interesting bit is the start and these dullards get rid of that
