I am not bothered we got the hardest draw tbh. Most of the season we have played poor against the average teams and stepped it against the better teams. You got to beat them all to win it either way and at least if we go out it will be against the best in the country and not in the semi's which would be even more heart breaking.

We have shown we can compete against anyone if we are up for it. Bring them on i say.

Cant understand this thinking.

Why do we have to face City at any point?

Could we not have seen City taken out by Chelsea or United and then coasted through the QF and SF against Bournemouth or Sheff Utd or S'ton; then faced a one off against United, Chelsea or Leicester?

This is a disastrous draw. With a full Goodison, maybe. That's not to be. They want this and they'll demolish us.

Possibly, but City are favourites so even if we did get a more favourable draw we’d probably face the, later in the tournament instead.

Just thought I'd read this thread on your thoughts. I wanted united away personally to knock them out of two cups in the same season but we got you away. Anything is possible and we are beatable. Everton were our bogey team(amongst several others) for years.

I want us to win obviously, but if you win then I sincerely hope you can go on to win the cup. 1995 was your last trophy winning the FA cup iirc. That a long time ago for a club of your stature. That said you could have been born a Geordie. I think Methuselah was a lad the last time they bought any Brasso.

Wasn't that long ago when we won nothing for many years. Your one will come lads.

#believe.
I love a good head pat.

Ta mate.

City are City. If you take a gun to that gunfight you just get outdrawn and killed.
Bore off, so tiresome this provocation.

We play city because thats who weve been drawn against. We would all prefer a "lesser" team but weve been knocked out by so called "lesser" teams in recent years. Write us off for a reaction all you want.

We beat united in the semi's in 2009 (that seasons league winners) and reached the final. After last nights performance we have as much a chance as anyone to go further in the fa cup this season.

Stop your mumbling and grumbling, we play city and ive no doubt we will put in a terrible 25 minutes and come into the game slowly. We have a dress rehearsal in the league next week, only a fool would think Carlo wont learn from that game in preparation.

Exactly this! If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. Full strength and we can compete with anyone. I also think they will play a slightly weakened side (who are still class) we need to use next Wednesday as some sort of bench mark

maybe

but sixth round fixtures are on 20/21st March

man city will play a champions league game on 16th March

we will have more rest than them at the moment which is a bonus

More rest is a bonus although with rearranged league fixtures allowed in 'European weeks' during the Covid crisis, there's no guarantee we won't rearrange the Villa fixture for that week.

Unfortunately City only play Borussia Mönchengladbach at home, so not the most difficult opponent. Tbh their squad teams are pretty formidable anyway but they may have less time to prepare, however Tuesday 16th to Saturday/Sunday (I bet it's Sunday) is ample time tbh.

Borussia sit in midtable and are already 16 points off Bayern after only 20 games

It'll be the saturday night 5pm bbc1 slot

There’s not a doubt in my mind that we’re knocking City out.

Revenge for when they cheated us out of the League Cup semi final in 2016.

City haven't got a top striker at present so if you defend the box well and stop the runners you have a chance.

We can beat anyone on our day - the problem is beating them normally wins you the trophy whereas we would still have Utd and Chelsea likely to come - whats the odds realistically of winning all those games?

Again not impossible but I wouldn't be getting to emotionally invested in a result - did that in 09 and cried me eyes out walking out of Wembley after the fantastic run we had on the way to that final it just felt like destiny that year.

Im firmly emotionally invested in the league and top 4 fight - anything in this is a welcome bonus.
