fa cup, euafa quilifying

the carling cup isn't that troubling, even if villa win we can still finish 7th as long as it doesn't force villa out of the top 7

the fa cup is somewhat troubling, cos the only teams in it that are likely to finish above us if we finish top 7 are villa, tottenham, and chelsea. if any of the other teams in it win, 7th will not be enough. if chelsea win we're fine. if villa win both the fa cup and carling cup, we can finish 7th as long as it doesn't push villa out of the top 7 and we're fine.

but, if villa win the league cup and tottenham win the fa cup, it gets really interesting. we are in 8th right now, and assuming that none of the sky 4 will get pushed out of the top 7, should villa win the league cup and tottenham win the fa cup, the only way 7th place would be enough is if manchester city do not finish in the top 7.

basically, if the scenario plays out that the OP predicted where villa win the league cup, and tottenham win the fa cup, we better hope manchester city fall apart to make 7th a viable option

I have to agree with Danny here.
There seems to be a red alert for defence here at the moment when anyone new makes a post.

I was thinking the same thing as the OP when I saw City had been taken out by Stoke.

I don't fancy United against Villa at all at the weekend. Villa have been truly great this year, and I think they'll get their rewards at the weekend.

I actually half fancy Stoke for the FA Cup. Absolutely made up they went through today, and not because of City, but they've got one of the only managers I'd ever want at Everton if Moyes God forbid ever left.

Did you just seriously suggest we get Pulis if Moyes were ever to leave??

Granted he has done well at Stoke but....
See Bournemouth, Bristol City and Gillingham fans for evidence he is never ever good enough to manage Everton - hated with some venom at all those clubs

It's not his pedigree so much, but more that he is a top bloke, and has done wonders with Stoke to be fair to him.

Another would be Warnock believe it or not, for the sheer passion of the guy.:)

What have they ever done??

We're Everton mate not some chirpy championship side or lower to mid-table Prem side. If Moyes left i'd want someone with intelligence and vision, not some direct-style specialist, dear oh dear mate, no offence but i do wonder....Warnock & Pulis??????

What had Moyes done? Won a 2nd Division title?
Warnock has had huge success with promotion for starters. Let's at least try and be fair.

Chirpy Championship manager? We got Moyes from Preston or have you forgotten.

I just see something in those 2 that perhaps others don't.(y)

I think Everton and Moyes have long moved on since then. Plus, Moyes was the brightest young manager in Britain in 2002, not an old-skool dinosaur who plays direct-football like Warnock & Pulis.

They are good managers for what they do and they suit the clubs they are at, but if Moyes we're ever to leave i hope to God we aren't looking at the likes of Warnock & Pulis.

All good though, because Moyes won't be out of Everton for a long time yet and if he is i don't think Warnock and the like will ever be considered - unless you are a secret board member?

Ha ha.

I do like Warnock though.:D
He lives and dies on the touch line, and actually does get his teams playing good football.

A bit off topic for this thread though.
