They were actually good passes spreading the play, though.

It's clearly a tactic Silva wants to use.

Personally I don't think we should go wide as often as we do, but you can hardly blame the players for sticking to a plan.

Oh 100% they were told to get it down the wings and cross it in (the play style of which is abhorrent but a different discussion). I just hated seeing the ball hung up long enough for the defence to be 2 inches away from Digne/ Sidibe every time the ball was played to them / sailing straight out of play off a miscontrol

TBH Delph and Gomes has the potential to be pretty decent. That's if Gomes doesn't stink the place out like he did against Villa. Pyar shocking performance that.

Please stay fit. Think he is just what we need, controls the middle, can pass the ball, is vocal. I think Gomes and Delph might just work you know.

This. Saw it even on TV when he mouthed to Siggy n Kean to "f***in sprint" at the Lincoln defenders once the ball was played back to them from kick off.
Always yapping away as well, but with controlled authority.
We've needed someone like him in the middle of the park for quite a bit.

I must say I was not enamoured by Delph signing but he does seem to bring badly needed vocals and leadership to that area.

On that alone, he would be worth a regular place when fit.
