One of the most hated players we've ever had. Knew from the start it would be a disaster, no idea at all why Brands went through with the signing. Apart from the the hated bit, same can also apply to Bolasie and Tosun.

I wouldn't even class the Burnley effort as a performance. It was a sad attempt at a player trying to play within himself for fear of his body breaking down on him.

The minute he actually had to physically exert some pressure on himself it folded on him like a pack of cards.

We'll be lucky to shift him out on loan either this window or next summer so I reckon this will just have to do down as an expensive flop which backfired massively on Brands.
He wasn't expensive though. We paid like 8 million pounds for him. He was worth a punt at that price, even with his wages.

We've made much much worse signings recently pound for pound

8m for someone who is never fit and on about 80k a week is bloody scandalous. We probably have made poorer purchases but doesn't excuse this one, he's been an absolute disaster of a signing.

Why?
If a humble football fan like myself could see what was likely to happen with him, I'm at a loss as to why a highly respected person such as Brands would go anywhere near him. I'm trying to recall if he was foisted upon us.
And besides that, by default I'll revert to my stance that he'd made his feelings known about us as a club when he left Leeds for Villa.

6 month loan with 50% wage contribution by any chance? Wild theory I know.

Yes but thats 6 months with our physio room only having to care for Gbamin.

Delph isnt like any of our other players like Tosun, Kenny, Bolasie etc. Delph isn't really a footballer, he just turns up each day, does a few laps in the pool, a few weights, a couple of gentle warm down stretches and then gets sent home. This pattern will continue until his contract runs out.
