Never lets England down and came into the Euro's as arguably the most consistent and in form keeper in the PL during the final third of the 20/21 season - certainly among the English keepers. He was in excellent form for months and looking much more composed than he'd previously been.

No I’m saying I don’t think Southgate started Grealish just because he is at city now. I think it’s likely to be a result of analysing what went well and badly at the Euros. But I could be wrong. Now is a chance to build for the next tournament and tweak the strategy a little bit

Agree with this. I dont think Southgate is playing Grealish cos hes now at City, hes evolving the team/squad. The sides he picked in the Euros got us to a final, the next target is to win a major tournament.

I agree to an extent with you Billy in that him going to City made no difference to Southgate. I was just saying that's what the fans think .

Southgate is still a cautious manager. Grealish starting was helped by Sako not having much game time at Arsenal and Sancho, Foden and Rashford all being unavailable, and not playing a back 3 when the 3rd striker spot would have gone to Mount.

A part of him still thinks Grealish can be a liability defensively, but more performances like the other night should soon sort that out. He worked his socks off.

True maybe wishful thinking on my part. I’m a big fan of Southgate but don’t agree with everything he does. No problem for me with him being cautious but I think he went overboard with it in the Euros. I think the Germany game was the only one where he got the balance right. I think 1 or 2 small tweaks are needed. My own view would be to add Grealish and then bring Bellingham in for Rice or Phillips. Should still be pretty solid but also should be better and carrying a threat against better teams

Yeah. Agree with all that. At first I thought the German ploy was negative, but then I realised it was going like for like and trust that we had the better players to come out on top. We did. I thought we were too negative in the final. We caught them on the hop initially but once they had sussed it out I think Southgate should have switched to 433 and keep the pressure on.

Bellingham excites me. Especially when you have a striker like Kane who is so effective at dropping in the hole. I think his runs from deep will be very hard to combat, even by the top sides.

The talk on Friday was that there would be 4/5 changes for tomorrows game. Personally I'd change the entire team and I'd like to see him try 3 at the back with Sako and TAA as wing backs. 343 can be a very attacking formation and we probably have 2 of the best wing backs around to execute it. Just need TAA to bring his Liverpool A game to the national team which he's failed to do so far on the whole.
