Feed the Yak and he will hold the ball up and let others into the game.. Erm..

Time to look at the bigger picture with Yakubu.

It looks like Moyes wants to deploy him as a holding striker whilst Piennar, Arteta, Donovan and Rodwell come up to have a pop of scoring.

I know he missed a penalty and a few sitters but he'd be up there today in the top 5 performers.

That's what modern strikers are supposed to do these days, especially playing in 4-5-1 formation. Scoring is only part of the game for them, sometimes I am not even sure if it's the most important one...

Yakubu reminds me of Lenny Henry.
He will be replaced soon if Moyes gets the opportunity. No longer good enough for what we need.

I like his contribution today. We had much more power and pace with him up front. He is more willing to run with the ball and his direct approach is one of the reason we attack with so much pace and speed today.

And why is that?

Cos he didnt score?

We scored 5 today.

We wont get anyone as good as Yak for cheap.

I bet you're loving Beckford to turn up aint ya.(y)

I'll be honest, he frustrated me today. The only blemish for me on a fantastic performance. His tame left footed effort epitomised why, when he should have played it left to Heitinga who had made a mile run.

We'll see the real Yakubu next season.

It isn't just about today.
It's about our season, and future seasons. As for Beckford, yes, can't wait to give the lad a try if it comes off.

BTW.... Yak wasn't cheap.

I thought he played well. Except for that miss, he hit the post and had the assist for Arteta as well. He was actually running all over the show, closing down defenders, getting into positions out wide on both flanks.

I don't quite get the flak he is getting based on how he played today. If anything, flak should be aimed at Anichebe. He was just off the pace in general.

He was far better today, held the ball up well, created a goal and penalty apart was much like the old Yakubu.

Playing 4-5-1 it's vital he performs like that, all goals scored by a midfielder and some super soccer today.

Well in Everton.

Fantastic cross that. Made me look foolish after saying "BLOODY HELL YAK, WHY ARE YOU OUT THERE...."

Completely disagree. You leap to the defence of Yakubu all season saying he's coming back from a serious injury but it's suddenly a mute point with regards to Anichebe.

I thought he done very well, instrumental in scoring our vital second.
