*Artwork the AI has been working on and you have directed with prompts.

Isn't using AI/stuff like midjourney a bit like me emailing an actual artist with a brief of what I'd like, them painting me a brilliant oil canvas and then me sharing the work as my own?

I think I come down on this side of the fence. In terms of art it's up there with 99.9% of photography that masquerades as art.

It's a fun tool though and very clever.

I disagree. I'll post some other stuff that is as good if not better than stuff I have hanging on my walls.

I don't know what's hanging on your walls but I've seen some pretty dreadful stuff hanging on various walls in houses, hotels, offices and art galleries. I'm sure you have some lovely stuff but the fact that something hangs on a wall somewhere is no high bar.

I do enjoy it though and look forward to seeing what you've created. The technique doesn't feel sufficiently artistic to me personally but it being 'art' obviously means it's a highly subjective thing so my opinion can only be an opinion - it can't be absolutely correct or incorrect.

The vast majority of art strikes me as echo-chamber ego stroking among the well-to-do's, scenesters and mega wealthy tax avoidance enthusiasts.

I blame Andy Warhol the absolute chancer:D

True. And I don't want to come off as not seeing your point, but the other side of the argument is that it democratizes art. I can imagine various scenes, characters, etc, and apply a similar style of an artist I already love.

For example, a lot of what I have hanging at home is from an artist called Michel Delacroix, who painted in the "naif" style specifically Paris in the early 40s under the occupation (his early childhood). This isn't the exact one I have but it's close. This may not be your cup of tea, but I'm drawn to the subject matter combined with the scenes he sets, and the artistic style he's chosen.

Now here's a few I did in that style. You'll see it has traits, but it's not an exact copy (which I didn't want to copy, I wanted something in that vein).

As you can see they aren't really the same thing, but mine have elements. The first one I need to edit out some loose ends, the second one I need to fix the wording above the shops since it's jibberish. But these are both pieces that I love and would consider buying.

So here's a poster i did for my store. I do a lot of music posters. Have a ton featuring the Smiths, and now moving on to other favorites. I'm a huge fan of the Jam, and their lyrics lend themselves well to doing 50s b-movie style posters. Here's one I did for "A-Bomb In Wardour Street". The image was generated via AI. I had a ton of great ones to choose from but settled on this one.
