Fellaini/Castello - Initial Views?

Fellani - Did show some class and could be a good player for us, I just think he'll take a few months to settle in. He's a strange player, when he runs it looks like he has no control of his limbs, they just flop around all over the place like they are made of rubber or something.

Castillo - helped out defense alot, he's going to be a good one.

I was very impressed with Castillo, his positional awareness was spot on, done the simple things well and was always looking for the ball to get us going forward, Fellaini was ok, his impact diminished in the 2nd half, but it's his first game and a big step up from the Belgian leagues, so i'll take that into account.

Castillo seemed pretty much a Carsely copy really which is good. Nothing spectacular, made tackles and played the short simple ball ( which he should stick to if todays attempts at long balls are anything to go by)

spot on above post

fellaini was poor on 1st showing. yes he will need time and games to settle but he did have the look of a player out of his depth. as prevous posts also, his heading ability was poor for the size of him. surely regardless of ability a 15mill player can at least jump!!

lets hope its premiershp nerves!

good to see cahill back also.when pienaar an ossie are fit,id like to see them both in the starting lineup which could makes it difficult for fellaini to hold down a starting berth.

Poor is harsh, he didn't do anything wrong. He kept the ball well and worked hard. He wasn't involved enough but that doesn't mean he's poor. He was in and out, some things good but he needs to adjust.

Don't ask me why but they performed exactly as I thought they would.

Castillo was solid throughout and didn't look affected by the pace.

Fellaini was solid in the first half but was a bit anonymous the 2nd half.

Not bad for two players who were thrown in at the deep end with players they hadn't played with before.

All in all, I think both will be very solid additions to the squad.

Fellaini was good in the first half but he seem to get tired and a little roughed up in the 2nd and became quiet. He defo has potential without a doubt.

Castillo, for me, was our best player. Solid in the tackle, decent on the ball and a good passer although he did give away the ball a couple of times.

Potentially both great, but i'd like to see them play around 5 games to give an accurate judgement.

I agree, it's too soon to tell, but the signs look good (y)

I think both Castillo and Fellaini had pretty good debuts.

I think it was very difficult them - never played together before, never played in the team before and they're backbone of the midfield. I don't think there's a more difficult integration in football than two new center-mids playing together in a new team!

It will take time, but I think both have the potential to do well and will in time dominate many a midfield.

I thought the difference was just experience/nerves. Castillo for me was really good, he always looked like he knew what he was doing and was just generally confident. I like it when players look as though they know they're better than the opposition. Gave the ball away a bit too much maybe, but that was it. I was really impressed that he stuck to his job, very disciplined.

Fellaini I thought was a bag of nerves. He was trying not to [Poor language removed] up and it made him play poorly. As people said, bit worrying that he didn't want to challenge in the air too. Clearly has a lot of potential, but for 15mil I hope he gets there sooner rather than later.

How good is Castillo's heading though? Pinpoint accuracy. COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

agree totally. It was their first game, they don't speak English and have been with the team for less than three days. I thought they did well under those circumstances. I thought Castillo was solid and looked comfortable on the ball.
Let's give them a chance to get to know eachothers names at least!

I was suprised Castillo never went up for corners, isn't he supposedly good in the air? So I'm told anyway.

Just shows how big a side we had out today when you've got players like Jagielka and Castillo staying back for corners. Yakubu, Cahill, Anichebe, Yobo, Lescott, Fellaini etc would be hard to defend against for any team.

I think we'll definatly be strong from set pieces this season. Last season Arteta only really had Yobo, Lescott and Cahill to hit last season. Now he has 7/8 players.

still need a little player, because they often get missed out for marking because they are 'too small'.

case in point - dennis wise.

remarkable headed goals tally. (not like i have it to note though)

Castillo actually surprised me. I wasn't expecting to much his first time out especially since he was late coming back from international duty. Looked like a Makelle look alike. Check out those legs they are like stumps. Did great tracking back and receiving the ball from the back four. This will be another of Moyes's bargains I hope we tie him up right away on a longer term deal looks like a Carsley clone but a little neater on the ball and plays with his head up.

Fellaini still has to adjust to the prem pace but I saw enough to know he will be good for us. Cahill stole the show for me boy have we missed our Skippy.
