It is an ancient scouse tradition prepared by ones missus after you have been out on the ale with the lads for an extended period. It is an invisible food, with no taste or texture but the pickles make up for this. The tradition demands that the she does not communicate with you for 24 hours, but some expert females go for 48.

Mrs likes to purchase every type of pickle she can in December, picallalili, silverskins,mixed pickles, gherkins, Branston, Caranberry sauce, jalapenos etc, then lob them all out in August unopened. Weird ritual lol
