Given our last week panics in previous years the club were almost certainly trying to avoid a Sky drama dream of leave Goodison/ leave Premier League double on the day!
How do you know the club wanted the game moving? I don’t think I’ve seen anything about thatBlame the club mate. They were the ones that wanted the game moving. We should have been at home last game and everyone would have known it would have been a 4pm kick off.
The club wanted it to be on Tv and not over shadowed by all other games on the last day.
This is a day for the fans not for sky. It should be a time that allows us time to say goodbyes. Not just to the stadium but people we have been around for years as we won’t be sitting by a lot of them again
They asked for final home game to be week 37, for maximum tv coverage. How do you know the club wanted the game moving? I don’t think I’ve seen anything about that

I get the max tv coverage. But sorry was it a statement from the club saying they had requested this move? They asked for final home game to be week 37, for maximum tv coverage.
We made a formal request to the PL to have our last game at Goodison the week beforeI get the max tv coverage. But sorry was it a statement from the club saying they had requested this move?

Sorry to be a bit dumb and persistent here I get what you and @Root66 are saying. It makes sense that the game occurs at a time when it doesn’t clash with a lot of other games, particularly if there are prizes to be won. Didn’t the RS also ask for the first couple of games to be away this season due to their new stand so presumably that may have effected where the final game of the season was played. They asked before the fixtures were realeased for this season.

I am asking how do we know specifically that the club requested thus? We get a lot of rumours in this thread that overtime become fact, I was just looking for the source of information that said that the request was made at the behest of the club.
It has been revealed that Everton requested that their final game at Goodison Park not be put on the last day of the Premier League season as they wanted to give the infamous grounds the biggest send-off possible.
You see the final round of matches of the Premier League season each year take place at the same time on the same day - for next season that will be 4pm on Sunday, May 24.
This would mean that Everton's farewell to Goodison could be lost within the other various story-lines which may unfold that day.
To combat that possibility Everton have seen their request granted to not play their final game at Goodison on the last day. Instead they will play it a week earlier.
Thanks![]()
Everton's last game at Goodison Park revealed for final season
The 2024-25 season will already be a memorable one for the Toffees regardless of how their season unfolds as they are set to say goodbye to Goodison Park.www.dailymail.co.uk
It doesn't work like that. The club did request the last Goodison game to be the penultimate game of the season though. We should have been at home last game this season. We were away last season
