Financial Fair Play investigation

Maybe Everton were given limits and targets with compliance in mind. Reading had similar after failing FFP in 2021, perhaps these although trending well were not met fully hence limits breached.
Birmingham City and Sheff United had similar targets to reach as part of their punishment. It was only when Birmingham continued to break the rules and failed to meet the agreed objectives that they received their points deduction.

Aren't we in danger of counting some of those twice though?

We have already claimed £88m for player trading COVID losses. A significant chunk of that will be for increased costs because of wages and amortisation for players we would have sold were it not for COVID.

Nah there done mate. i.e their contracts and ammortisation dont have to be honored by the club anymore so they fall off the balance sheet as a cost in the relevant year. Our last set of accounts (20/21) was 90%+ wages to turnover ratio. Since then all of the above contracts have ended so the club has dropped the cost of wages and amortisation from the relevant balance sheet i.e. in 21/22 and 22/23 - whenever they ended. If we claimed for them in Covid years all the better in 19/20 & 20/21 all the better.

We actually brought in revenue as well for some like Digne, Jamo, Richarlison and i believe even Bernard.

We are slowly getting in shape.

These FFP rules weren’t created just for Everton

All contracts start 1st July so 31st Junes the last day of the clubs responsibility for having players in the books.
Thank you…. Although we could be waiting some time for that exact date and likely miss this years financials…

Everton that..

19/20 & 20/21 are averaged due to Covid years mate i.e. added together and dived by two and counted as one year in the cycle - then you subtract the Covid losses - of the top of my head they were £80 something million - and then the total is £48 mill.
Yep, u are correct about the 2 years being averaged to be part of a 4 year cycle but the Covid losses recorded were 170m. I obviously don't know the details but I am guessing that the justification of the 170m is the big sticky point with the P&S charge. With Leeds and Burnley formally informing the PL that they will seek compensation if they were relegated the PL will no doubt be looking into the issue and I assume Leeds & Burnley were in some part a catalyst to EFC being charged

Oh I agree from the general accounts point of view.

I was thinking specifically from a P&S point of view. Especially in relation to how we ended up with the £170m Covid losses that we used to offset going over the £105m loss limit.

As the problem seems to be in the 2021/22 financial year, it could be an issue as to how much of the Richarlison transfer fee was paid on 30th June to be included in the accounts for that year. Essentially how much was paid upfront and was it enough to keep the club in line with FFP requirements.

I mean we were spending 2million in a transfer window and still posting loses of 140million or something stupid.

What were we doing with money? Setting fire to it?
Giving contracts to the likes of Tosun and Delph and many more misfits is essentially the same thing, so yeah we were setting fire to it.
