Financial Fair Play investigation

The hope might be we get into Europe at some point haha!

Have they decided yet if it's wages, wages plus amortisation etc?
It just feels another overly complex set of rules to avoid having to put in a wage cap of say 200m on salaries.

It’s wages, plus amortisation/ impairment and fees paid to agents.

The change that is being suggested to only allow amortisation over 5 years will be an interesting one for a variety of reasons but what I haven’t seen explained yet is how it will work if a player signs a contract extension because it’s just not the initial transfer fee that’s amortised it’s also the fees paid to agents that are written off over the contract period

If things don't go our way, an immediate appeal would buy us more time and allow us sign players. We might even win the appeal and use the intervening time to get our house in order further, if only.

It’s a proper nightmare though. What sort of player joins a bottom 5 club that has been charged and found guilty and has only delayed the punishment by appealing. The “when Everton call you say yes” has pretty much gone based on league position these days, let alone a punishment that could all but guarantee relegation or no chance of promotion depending on how this season ends.

In that circumstance where a punishment has been declared but not yet applied, agents would and should block all of Kevs calls. Can you imagine Gyokeres coming here? It would just be 33 year old injury prone carthorses and greedy overseas players who mysteriously all have their brother as their agent.

Article 17 of FIFAs rules on players already allows players to tear up their contracts after 3 years if aged under 28 and 2 years if over without a fee albeit compensation would be payable.
Typically the compo is the value of the remaining contract iirc, fairly sure that’s how we got James on a free. His original Colombian club were upset as it was described as a Free Transfer so weren’t due any sell on, but several mill was still handed over to Real when his contract was terminated, nominally by James but not doubt the equivalent sum was given to him as a signing on fee…..
