FFS that was from my own brain... kind of.

Have you tried this...

Open the file in Notepad again. From the menu choose:

File > Save As...

In the box that pops up you will see a selection labeled:

Encoding:

It should show whatever encoding the file was last saved in, in this case probably UTF-8. But whatever it is, change it to ANSI unless it already is showing that. Click save and you should be home free.

What's the difference in simple terms between that and notepad mate?

Also, any ideas how to identify the file that's been 'corrupted' that's inserting it?

Syntax highlighting and white space Characters can be identified, I use it all the time, notepad is ace but notepad++ is literally notepad on steroids, I use it as my standard text editor.


Also, You can revert to the last saved version of the file by going to File > Revert.

At the risk of sounding nerdy
I'm on firefox and when I go to the cr*ppy page and right click | View Page Info it shows that the Render Mode is "Quirks mode" which doesn't sound great

Damonpedia tells you about quirks mode here

i did, yesterday, or was it day before it....
i hope it doesnt have anything to do by the fact that i used firefox im my new computer that i took back to shop...because it tilted all the time!

i took two new computers back to shop because those tilted all the time....friend who works with computers couldnt find why this happened...

tell me this wasnt becuase of THIS site (and GOT probably was always open)

im now using comp at work.

this is quite a mystery now

i started to think if this site had something to do with those meltdowns. i hope not
about two weeks ago i bought HP and after it started to tilt, i swapped it to new Toshiba. it started to tilt too...and now that freaking machine is in "repair" too.
