Flying the England flag

I'm not going to apologise for being patriotic in my own country. You find me one muslim who is upset by it in the entire country and I'd be surprised.

You cant be serious? Many Muslims see it as a flag of the Crusader invader; synonymous with the infidel.

I know that they won't be up for long, but just wondering what people's views of so many England flags on display? I've only really noticed other flags on a few pubs and what I think is a few hardy soles on their car (It may have been the same portugal flat on two ocassions).

And before you ask, while I'd never wear one myself, I understand why people would want to. Another "positive" is that flying the flag appears to be slowly moving away from its association with the BNP and is being reclaimed by all the English, irrespective of colour.

Finally. Good post mate, it's never been that associated with the BNP, it's generally been the Union Jack from what I can remember.

Oh is that why all the bloody Pakistani taxi drivers have it on their taxis up here and the same flag out over their office. Sorry Dave but it is people like you are the ones who are xenophobic reading into the use of the flag which for the majority of people is just an expression of being English. As I stated before what would the Scots or Welsh wave ffs. You are always looking for hidden meanings, get a life.

A black poster brought it up, not me. If someone's saying these flags are adopted by 100% of the population then that's not true. Look here: http://swns.com/builders-banned-fro...ver-fears-it-might-offend-muslims-111107.html

Put him on Ignore mate he's just on a mission to wind people up.

It's just winding the Muslims up. The footy is a convenient front for this. IMO.

What I like about you Robert is your considered intellectual response to the issue at stake. I don't wholly agree with Davek on this one as I've seen African-Caribbean and Asians (heaven knows if they're Asian Muslim or not), with the flags and the jerseys, same as in Euro 96. It could even be cementing the reclamation of the flag from the BNP. I'd go as far as saying that for the majority it might not even be that petty nationalist so often associated with little englanders.

I'd be interested in Robert's considered response.

I have a big one.

in fact the girl next door says it's much wider than her fellas, when she 1st saw it she was aghast and now every time she see's it she just says wow as she just cant get used to the size of it and it seems just as big now as the 1st time.

I hung it out of the back window when she was in the garden.
