GhostOfDixie

Player Valuation: £70m
I'm starting a proper game tomorrow on the demo of FM2010, and hopefully I can maintain the game beyond the demo and into the full version.

Anyway, off to bed now, but tomorrow I am going to post my findings on the current squad, and perhaps we can share some fantasy views on being the boss and all.

I sold nearly the entire team, I kept Arteta, Cahill and Jags, but Chelsea offered me £9m for Cahill and I sold Jags in Jan. Mexes is so much better. I didnt cheat at all to buy any of these players, HONEST A GOD GUV!

Full Backs

Ok, I have compiled the key skills that I am looking for from my full backs.

1. Positioning
2. Tackling
3. Pace
4. Anticipation

Then there are secondary skills

1. Acceleration
2. Agility
3. Stamina
4. Crossing
5. Marking
6. Passing

and finally tertiary skills

1. Balance
2. Natural Fitness
3. Strength
4. Off The Ball

Oh and there is also these skills, these are required for the overall team performance.

1. Work Rate
2. Team Work

Now there are 8 players who can play full back for Everton, 6 right backs and 1 left back and 1 player who can play both.

Now what I plan to do and you can call this nerdy if you like Chico, but the suns not out and Everton are not here to ruin my Saturday.

But I plan to find the best right back and left back in the Premier league and use that players skills as a benchmark for the players I have.

That way I can see how far off the players I have need to develop, obviously a top player costs money, so it's all about training, and perhaps look for a player in the squad who is maybe 10% less of a player than the benchmark.

It's all a bit geeky but I love it.

The best players in the Everton squad, with key atributes are Cahill, Arteta and Heitinga. Cahill is best as a Trequartista, Arteta as Advanced playmaker and Johnny as Ball winning midfielder.

I'm kind of looking for Premier League players initially. What's this filters you talk of?

Searching for that trequartista for your team? Or planning to go gungho with a sweeper keeper?

I have created filters based on the specialized player roles and their key attributes. Key attributes for the specific role was set to at least 15. The corresponding position(s) were also set.

Like that, but you can knock them down 1 and search for lesser players or even knock it down so it searches for 9/10 of them, it can all be customised so that you can find not only the best, but the next best and the affordable 1s.

Its quite good.

Suggested use:

* Search for the player with a perfect specialized role
* Lower the key attributes, search for younger players who will develop into a perfect specialist
* Lower the key attributes for lower leagues.
* Unselect positions in the filters. Find a player with the right attributes and retrain him for his perfect position.

Download Smith's Filters:

Once downloaded, extract files to Sports Interactive > Football Manager 10 > Filters. You will need to import the filters from the search section in-game - Filters > Manage Filters > Import

They are not links mate.

I know how to use filters in the game, I thought it may have been some external thing.

By the way, do you know if the demo game can be loaded on the full game?

It wont let me give the links, they just auto save to my desktop.

They are here, but you need an account, with a SEGA pass, I could send you them MSN or Email, but im off out for an hour now, so will have to be upon my return.

This is the CB filter anyway, as you can see you can adjust everything.

RIGHT

I'm going to join the bad Nerdoids club, and buy it for Christmas
