I can only concur,on and off the pitch he encapsulated what this club is all about,RIP to our Golden Vision.I had the absolute honour to meet Alex in Liverpool many years ago at his book signing, He was an absolute gentleman, so humble and kind. What a player he was but what a fantastic person he was too.
Pity he couldn't spell CatterickView attachment 155556
Quick search made, here we go - amazing what you can find on the interweb thingy! Think it's made previous appearances over the years.
A story I've told before, but not for a while. Many years ago I found myself standing between Alex Young and Jimmy Gabriel at the Gents stalls in St Philomenas Club at the Old Roan. Alex says to me 'Whats it like having a wee with two Scottish internationalists?' And Jim Gabriel retorts ' 'Did you ever play for Scotland, Alex?.'I had the absolute honour to meet Alex in Liverpool many years ago at his book signing, He was an absolute gentleman, so humble and kind. What a player he was but what a fantastic person he was too.
I think a lot of us just went to see the GV, even if he was playing crap.Who else was at the riot at Blackpool when Alex was dropped in favour of young Joe Royle. I've always though Catterick was right, becaue Young was way of the boil by then.
What a player and what a team he played in, I felt down before I read this, feel even worse now when I think back to then and realise what we have got now with this Everton squad.A lovely fella, lucky to have met him twice, one of which was a book signing
RIP Alex and thank you for all the wonderful memories.
