For sale

If I had a 1990 Volvo estate for sale, and put a price of £5,000 on it, do you reckon anyone would buy it?

Same principle here I reckon

I'm not sure what they are asking for the club, I know 600M was banded about last week but thats stupid. I think RBS will also have a say in the selling price. I doubt the Americans will see any profit.

BREAKING NEWS: Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, of Status Quo, buy Liverpool Football Club: Team to run out to "Down Down"

Barclay's are covering the debt, (i.e. taken on the loans) as part of the sale process. Its Barclay's that will have the say in the sale price and its Barclay's that will take significant commission on the price sold at.

The key point is this:

Mike Ashley is rumoured to again be thinking of Selling Newcastle recently promoted again.

So you have both clubs on the market... Who's going to come in and just throw money at these teams?

I mean really.

I see it being - a part fan buy out by the Norwegians, but all this won't get sorted for at least 6 months. (September / November 2010) and in the meantime - are Barclay's going to give them 80million to spend in the summer????

I DOUBT IT!!

So we should hope to see a complete collapse in the next 6 months....

Lets see how quickly they get bought!!

As i remember Kenwrong saying there's no one buying football clubs at the moment.....

I bet he's shitting himself now..

I'm loving how SKY SPORTS NEWS are spinning this as "The current owners want the club to move to the next level"...

this is after them dropping out the champions league.

Belters. Including Sky Sports News.

All this "the club needs investment".

Basically they are [Poor language removed] without someone throwing money at them. Why won't Sky just tell it like it is?????

I dont think much has changed, tbh. The so called new development seems to be the fact 'dem Yanks' are now not looking for an investor to buy a stake in the club. But in all that time they were apparently insisting on their continued involvement, if a bidder would have come in for 100% of their shares quoting the right value placed on them by H&G the sale would have happened long ago. This is just formalising what was obvious in the past with the goodwill gesture of scarpering from the premises whilst they wait for their big pay day. The fact that the new Chairman is talking up the necessity for the winning bidder to be on board with the new stadium build tells you all you need to know: H&G are factoring in their planning permission for Stanley Park into their valuation. I think that might be a huge sticking point with potential new owners. I know the Mittals and Ambanis of this world are obscenely wealthy, but they dont like the piss being taken either.

Buying the shares will cost hundreds of millions paid to G & H, does that mean they will have to clear the clubs debt or the new owner? Then there will be a matter of finding on top of the buy out a couple of hundred million for a new stadium and of cours Rafael's 80 million request.

In some paper there was talk of a Syrian wanting to buy.

i'm actually not wasting any of my energy on our lovable neighbours this time. even if they were owned by brewster, richie rich and the million dollar man ted dibiase they'd still fill their stadium with a bunch of replica-wearing glands. colin murray will still wipe a tear from his eye as he mentions "those special anfield nights" and "a club with a special soul" even if they were taken over by a consortium lead by gary glitter on behalf of the stalin family, so i'm just going to let this pantomime pass me by this time.

plus ca change, as they say in walton.
