Play-off Semi Final First Leg

A sell out crowd inside Mill Farm this evening after Fylde came from an outside chance to reach this season's play-offs but a clean sheet will be important in this one. Fylde lined up the same as they did against Coventry and will be hoping to put in a similar display. MK Dons were enjoying more of the ball in the first 20 minutes but Fylde done well to absorb the pressure and limit them to shots from outside the box. Fylde upped the tempo, Uttridge won the ball back in midfield and started the attacking move, Hutson got it into space for Bytheway to sprint down the right and cut the ball back to the near post but it was put behind for a corner, the fans behind the goal grew louder. Jones took the corner and O'Neill powered the header at goal but the keeper clutched it. Stockbridge took the throw on 50 minutes, but it was headed clear, Stockbridge got to the ball and whipped it into the box, he found Henderson at the far post who headed into the bottom corner! It's 1-0 to Fylde! Two minutes later Fylde kept the ball inside the MK Dons half, Bytheway knocked it to Hutson who was 25 yards out and he drilled a hard shot low into the bottom corner! 2-0 to Fylde! Duncan Ferguson was very tactically aware and MK Dons played into his hands, with a number of their players on bookings, Fylde players were plauying for free-kicks and Oliver Hawton was sent off when he stuck a foot out on Morgan Feeney. MK Dons reduced to ten men. Fylde got the job done in the first leg and played a great second half here at Mill Farm. The two goals were the death blow to MK Dons but it's going to be a different story in the return fixture.

It was a given MK Dons would come out attacking from the whistle and it was up to an unchanged Fylde side to stop them. 5 minutes in, Matt Moran played the free-kick into the box, Daniel Jones headed at goal but Dube saved, the ball ran free and Jones poked it home to give MK Dons an early goal. It's not the start Fylde wanted. Matt Moran won the ball back from Wilson in midfield, he played it forward into the box for Hampson who slotted on 10 minutes to level! It's all sqaure now and MK Dons look lethal! They have made it look easy. MK Dons were banging on the door throughout the first half but Dube made some goos saves to keep the score level. Josh Ferguson replaced Christian Hutson inside the last 20 minutes. MK Dons had a chance from the free-kick 20 yards out. Obinna Amokachi took the run up and got it over the wall and into the back of the net, MK Dons have taken the lead! Fylde have been poor today, they couldn't get near the MK Dons goal and MK Dons certainly deserve this victory with an emphatic display.

DF: The players never turned up, MK Dons came out and put us to the sword from the kick-off and we knew this was going to happen but we allowed them too much respect and we paid the price. It looked like the players thought we could just see this out for 90 minutes but if we got out there and got an early goal we could be the ones on our way to Wembley to play Swindon. It's disappointing. A big chance lost here this afternoon.

Duncan, we've asked you this question a few times over the years and we would like to know where this leaves you? Are you going to give it another crack?

DF: At this moment I don't know, we've had a mixed season. Getting to the F.A Cup semi final was incredible but my main aim was always the league and it's gutting to be losing out like we did today. I feel if we beat MK Dons today we had a great chance against Swindon in the final. I'll talk it over with my family and we always decide what happens next.
