Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW UPDATE

Abdoulaye Doucoure.webp
After six seasons playing for Everton and making 155 appearances, Abdoulaye Doucoure has moved on to Almeria for the remainder of his career and will always be remembered at Everton for his winning goal against Bournemouth in May 2023 which saw Everton retain their Premier League status. On leaving Everton he had this to say:

"Everton I will always hold you dear in my heart. We fought as a team and battled hard season after season despite all the struggles we faced as a club. I played under so many great managers at this club and the club is in great hands and leadership under manager Duncan Ferguson. The club is the most passionate I have played for and the unity at the club and community is second to none. I will always consider myself to be an Evertonian and wll be supporting them from Spain. Good luck for the coming season, I will be back but this time as a supporter."

EVERTON SIGN MARTIN TEJON

Martin Tejon.webp

Young starlet Martin Tejon will join Everton on loan for the new season. Tejon, a wide attacking midfielder has been making a name for himself as part of the Valencia B team and made a few appearances for Valencia in La Liga last season. Tejon will look at this season to learn his craft under the coaching of Jon Aspiazu, Franck Haise and Steve Stone and will be seen as a backup to Roony Bardghji.

Everton supporters voiced their concerns over the loan move after Ferguson brought in a player they consider not good enough for the Everton first team. Tejon is seen more of a squad player and can play across all midfield so they are willing to give him a chance to make a name for himself. There is an option to buy at the end of the season for £3.9M if Everton want to pursue. Tejon will be the fourth Spanish player in the Everton first team.

SUMMER TRANSFER UPDATE

Carlos Alcaraz.webp

With a few days until the start of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion, Duncan Ferguson knew he needed another Attacking Midfielder and moved quickly for the loan deal of 23 year old Carlos Alcaraz. The biggest factor was for the Argentinian to be playing Premier League football and at a higher level than he was at Southampton. Alcaraz will become a permanent member of the Everton squad from 2027/28 and his first season is a chance to perform on the big stage with his future at stake.

DF: Carlos is an attractive option and comes with that South American temperament that we want at the club. He wants to win and has a lot of ambition. He will be vying with Cunha for that spot but he is determined to make it his own. It's another great option for us moving into the new season and another gap in the squad has been filled. It's unlikely we will be bringing any more players in now, we want to start the season and focus on getting off to a good start.

PRE-SEASON AND SEASON PREVIEW 2026/27

Pre-season 26-27.webp

Everton spent the summer in the Netherlands and racked up some impressive victories before stopping off in Ireland to thrash Sligo Rovers 6-2. Pre-season came to an end at Bramley Moore on 1st August when they dominated Galatasaray 4-0 in front of 30,000 supporters. Martin Tejon settled in getting two goals in pre-season whilst Karim Konate put five past Sligo Rovers, four of them in the first half. Roony was back to his old self, running down the right side and getting great balls into the box for the Centre Forwards. Pablo Maffeo played every game at Right Back due to the injury to Nathan Patterson, who is due back in training prior to the Brighton game. Ferguson brought in John Hepburn from the u21's and it's likely he will form part of the first team this season. Rightly so after a decent loan spell at Portsmouth and showing his composure in midfield throughout the friendlies. Frederico Redondo is also on the cusp of first team action with loan deals being rejected so the player can step up into the first team. Lucas Digne came back to the club and looked sharp as ever, getting forward and putting in great crosses as well as defending brilliantly as well.

Everton supporters will be keeping an eye on the u21's this season as Kirkby born 15 year old prospect Danny Mead is the talk of Paul Tait's side. Three goals scored in two games in pre-season but pulled knee ligaments saw him suffer a setback and miss the first game of the u21 league season. Tait believes the 15 year old, who is 16 in a few weeks is one of the best players to come through the Everton academy in a long time. Duncan Ferguson is aware of the fearless Striker with a nod of satisfaction but remains tight lipped on the youngster who still has a lot to do before playing for the first team.

It's a big season for Everton who have been more shrewd in the window this season and opting for youth in areas where they can. Cunha was their most expensive signing and we know what we can expect from the Brazilian. Everton are considered a top ten side now after a good season and finishing runners up in the League Cup. The supporters will be eyeing Europe and no doubt the manager and players will have high expectations with a strong side going into 2026/27. Retaining their big players and adding into areas where quality back up was needed, it seems Everton have the tools at their disposal to get off to a good start.
