Remember reading about someone who had just left Newcastle and saying what a horrible toxic club it was/is from top to bottom. The youth team had just played away and got a heavy beatin. After the game the team got showered and changed and all strolled out laughing and joking like it didn't matter as they thought they'd all already made it, and got onto an executive coach 5 star travel and all that malarkey. The fella who seen it said they'd just launched there kit towels etc everywhere, as he walked through the changing room there was a fella picking up all the bits and pieces and he was shocked to see it was Beardsley pushing around a laundry hamper sorting it all out.

Awful club that just behind those rats across the park
I saw a photo of him a couple of years ago, loading the kit hamper into a coach - probably the same incident. Sure it was in one of the online news websites. The shame of that - most of those idiots would never be fit to lace his boots, yet the sad thing is they'll probably all earn more from their "career" than he did - even if they don't make it.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is considering making Paul Bracewell his number two, after failing to lure Phil Brown to Wearside
JS67676651.jpg

Sam Allardyce is considering recruiting in-house for an assistant manager - with Paul Bracewell favourite for the role.

New Black Cats boss Allardyce wanted to bring his former Bolton number two Phil Brown to the Stadium of Light but, after thinking it over for several days last week, Brown opted to stay as manager of Southend United.

Allardyce wants an assistant in place before Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby and, while several names have been linked with the post, Chroniclelive understands Big Sam is now looking at making Bracewell his second in command.

Former Sunderland and Newcastle midfielder Bracewell stepped up from the Black Cats’ academy set-up to work as first team coach when Dick Advocaat arrived on Wearside in March, and he became the Dutchman’s number two when Advocaat’s long-time assistant Bert van Lingen decided to retire over the summer.

Bracewell was in the dugout for Big Sam’s first game in charge at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday to provide some continuity, and the 53-year-old now seems likely to become Allardyce’s assistant on a long-term basis.

Lee Carsley named Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month

Lee Carsley with the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award

Brentford boss Lee Carsley has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for October.
Carsley keeps insisting that the Brentford post is not one for a first-time manager, yet few could have lifted them into mid-table so convincingly.

He introduced a midfield diamond, freed his players and guided them to four wins out of five.

Carsley said: “I am very proud of the players. This is really a team reward rather than a personal one. Every decision I have taken in the past month has been made between myself and my assistant Paul Williams.

“If I could cut the award in half, he would get the other half. I see this as a reward for a great team effort over the month.”

George Burley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “Lee took on the difficult task of trying to get Brentford back to the form of last season which he has done successfully, winning the last four games.

“The win over QPR showed the standard of football he is imposing on the team.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “The way that Lee has turned Brentford’s fortunes around in such a short space of time is highly commendable.

“When Marinus Dijkhuizen departed the role five weeks ago, few would have predicted that Brentford would be sitting comfortably in mid-table, or that his replacement would be picking up the October Manager of the Month award.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “After defeat to highly fancied Derby in their first game in October, Carsley managed to send the Bees on an amazing run of four consecutive victories to close the month.

“While only conceding one goal in the process, he oversaw a massive improvement in defensive form, which has lifted them in to the top half of the table for the first time this season."

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town boss George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs emerges as surprise candidate for vacant QPR job
  • Chris Ramsey has been sacked as head coach by Queens Park Rangers
  • Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs could be in line to take over
  • The former Everton defender has impressed QPR with his approach
Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs is a surprise contender for the QPR job after Chris Ramsey was sacked, with the club hoping to make an appointment during the forthcoming international break.
The former Bolton, Celtic and Everton defender, who worked as a coach at Everton, has impressed QPR with his approach to the job at Hibernian in the Scottish Championship, taking them into the play offs last season, where they lost to Rangers.
Hibs are currently second in the table behind Rangers, but QPR will have to prise him away from the club at which he has managed since 2014.

Rangers’ manager Mark Warburton and Burton Albion’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who secured promotion as champions last season and whose team is currently second in League One, would also be among those considered.
Both fit the profile of a younger coach with the potential to grow the club in the Premier League and work with the academy bring through young players.
Stubbs’ role with the Under-21 team at Everton means he would be ideal for that task though QPR will not rush an appointment and are expected to take their time, while Neil Warnock, who came in as an adviser last month and is now temporary manager.

Carsley: once he got Weir out of the way he's gone onto good things. It was obvious that big streak of piss was holding him back. He very near killed Carsley's management career stone dead at Sheffield United.

Stubbs: I'm not surprised he's touted as a manager down here. I've been impressed when I've seen Hibs. They play some very good attacking football. A good Championship club would be a base for him to go into the PL.

I see quite a bit of Stubbs on TV up here in Scotland and he's always very impressive. He was talking very sensibly after a recent victory over Rangers and again the other night about a young goal scorer who had been rejected by Hearts but was thriving at Hibs. If he , manages to win the Scottish Championship and get promotion ahead of Rangers it will be a major achievement for him. They failed to get out via the playoffs last year so that route is pretty difficult. Given the fickle nature of Scottish (all?) football a move back to England has got to be the end game, but it won't do him any harm to see out the season at Hibs.
