Hi all

Please reply with any current technical problem you have with the forum, following last weeks crash.

No jokes please. I will remove and infract anyone who does. It makes it a nightmare for me to understand what needs resolving.

neg rep mate.

The modz call it as they see it they'll have bias but thats human nature infractions need to be there... unlike the slippery neg rep fiends one of which has just had a go - never believe we were all evertonians would ya?

People overreact to rep, I think. It's not intended as a grevious insult. Just a way of saying 'I like/don't like this post but have nothing to say about it'.

The idea is to keep forum threads to actual discussion and not just 'i agree' and 'i don't agree'.

Me and you have just had a debate from quite differing places without resorting to name calling.

Every neg rep I've ever had has been followed by a snide remark, there's clearly 2 formats one where people know each other it's used as a bit of fun like gentle punch in the shoulder "old buddy old pal" and the other I can't argue my point so I'm gonna call you a name "so there" - it really is juvenile.

Well that's fair enough. Using it as a way to insult people anonimously isn't right, at all.

I might add this is the source of the accusation of "cliques" as one lad Pm'd me "these (insert expletive) know each other and ruin what is otherwise a great site".

It appears to me the reason it's there is to encourage financial participation someone suggested if you pay you see - not sure if it's so but otherwise why have such an antagonistic device between supporters of the same club?

The bit about people over react is the excuse from the 70s when unacceptable terms for black people were in common usage - it isn't right now it wasn't right then.

Not a single good reason have I heard for this divisive tool.

Well as for that I'm not going to apologise for being friendly with people.

Any forum without cliques, without people who get to know each other and enjoy talking with each other and swapping jokes, must be damned unfriendly.

I'm not suggesting you should apologise for being friendly actually I'm not suggesting you should apologise for anything, imo you're a gentleman strong of opinion but within the bounds.

Whenever it kicks off it always stems from snarkiness it would seem sensible to me to remove any devices fueling such behaviour - then again if there's money it.

I don't understand the issue with the Upgraded membership, honestly.

The vast majority of my time is spent in the forums which are viewable by everybody. If i'm honest, and i hope the mods don't mind me saying this, the Upgraded section tends to be used for people to write things about their personal lives which they might not want everybody on the web to be able to see.

The fact that anybody who pays a small fee can gain access to these features surely proves that there is no clique. A clique wouldn't allow anybody to join just by paying five quid.

P.S. If it was me i'd allow every user to see who gives them rep regardless of their membership status, i think not doing so creates about 90% of the rep related problems on this site.

Wouldn't it be strange if you actually took the comment on it's merit ie it's about examining the spurious claim of over-reaction rather than spinning "neg repping is racism" (we know he didn't ... but that would mean losing a sensible debate).

Mention the potential for problems with "neg rep" which I can tell you is not just my opinion and certain members get the vapours as evident by the above plus the accompanying "negs" received. I might add despite all the neg reps and snide I receive I never have or ever will use it - it's underhand, cowardly and the complete antithesis of what being a fellow fan should be - contacting the mods about it is tinkering round the edges.
