Forum Upgrade

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the scheduled 40 minute downtime today.

It was necessary to upgrade our core forum software.

This was a big'un with a lot of moving parts - so please use this thread to flag any probs.

In the immediate, your style choices (day vs night) will have likely changed. You can change this back in the footer link, or within your preferences;

Thanks to @mattw who helped massively by setting up a separate test site environment and being on hand to help prevent me breaking the whole thing.

Sorry, missed that.

Don't really understand the question as the adblock notification shouldn't change anything within the browser?

The obvious answer without meaning to be facetious is to disable adblock on here?
Because I browse GOT on the work PC I can't do that there, but it makes the popup appear on all other devices - I'm fine with that, it makes sense.

But say I open a notification (like for this post) - it spits the usual "remove adblock" message, but if I interact with it (click "I've disabled"), it shoots back to the top of the page, instead of staying at the highlighted post, and I have to scroll back or reopen the notification, which is annoying.

Basically interacting with the "Disable adblock" popup makes it as if you've used those old "Send to top" buttons, if you remember those.

It is just a mild annoyance, nothing more, but an annoyance nonetheless - especially as I use several devices/networks/browsers.

Ah. It should switch pretty off pretty quick on devices that don't have adblock.

It's showing you adblock across a number of devices - Opera browser as well as Firefox.

I've made some tweaks so it shouldn't bug you as much.

The thing is that Firefox is the work one, my other device is OperaGX and I've whitelisted GOT from everything, but I have a guess for why that is and it's on my part - I've got a lot of things custom blocked through pihole and maybe one of the ads it's trying to show is from a blocklist somewhere.

Still does the going to top if I click on "I've disabled adblock" for what it's worth but I guess that's just not to be :lol:

Cheers anyway x

Can’t believe no one has done a jiggling boobies gif yet

Getting caught up with this detection thing again even though the site is exempt. There must sometimes be a short delay of the setting taking place when you first join the site. Up to 29 clear page views required currently.

Thanks for not having adblock.

Yeah that's too many. Ideally within less than 5 page views of no adblock it should remove it. I think this is a configuration issue on my part.

Bonus points if anyone can spot what I've done wrong here;

Haven't used my laptop in ages, but I know I took the ad block off. Powered up today and got the ad block warning. No issues on the phone, but how do I get the warning to bugger off on my laptop?
